A Roundup Calendar

darius and aknapp, I have created the forum and made you two the admins of it. It's available at this link:

http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/dgevents/

Figure out how you want to make it happen, and once you get it going I'll see about adding some features to make it easier to browse.

Way to go, dave!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Thanks Dave !! Is it visible to subscribers only? (That would certainly be my preference, if I were hosting one, for example....just in the name of security)

Shannon

Yes, visible only to subscribers.

Thanks, I was hoping for that, as a safety measure!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Yay! Thanks Dave! I think this will be very helpful in the long run.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Too Cool!

Frederick, MD

Excellent. Excuse the worm, but it was my ignorance and my special brand of laziness that were the impetus for this new forum, were they not? I crown myself queen of ignorance and laziness that was actually useful.

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Oh I am so happy to see that its going to happen. Thanks Dave. It will be much easier to keep up with whats going on. Binky :))))))

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Eek! I need to renew my subscription, lol.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Betty, WHAT on this thread made you remember subscription time? LOL.

errr, the fact that only subscibers can use the new Round-up info. Of course, Dave or Terry had e-mailed but I forgot.
Please tell me the date I am supposed to come over again...
lots happening that week.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Betty, I think we decided the 18th, a Monday. If you cannot make it, not to worry!

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Dave and staff and Darius and Kooger for setting this up! I think it's a great way to let everyone know what is going on and to strengthen the DG network of garden friends and news.

And thanks, too, for setting up and volunteering on the 'Garden Events/Flower Show' threads!--A great way to support garden/enviromental/nature education and learning in our communities. t.

Okay, I think I/We need a couple of volunters to help with the Special Events Forum. Each person wil be in charge of maintaining a specific thread, I.e. Family Freebies/Nearly Free, Master Gardner Events, and any others we may think of.

Email me.

Edited to say that it is only weird when I'm typing but comes out normal.....????

Must be some chsnge Dave made today...I have posted that I HATE it... takes me back 40 years before computers, LOL.

Still looking for a couple more volunteers to help manage the EVents Forum. We need people to handle: Canada, NE US and International Events.

I still would like to see a Calendar with 12 pages similar to this to pick:

Good idea, Ulrich!!!!

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

Thanks, Daisy. At least one just as an overview for Roundups would be a good start and simple enough. You would bring up one Month at a time to see what's happening. Then, a click on the date would take you to the corresponding thread.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Yep, thats cool!

Crossville, TN

That would be nice. Myfamily.com has this type of calendar for our birthday's & stuff on our web site. Jo

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

I am using 'Print Shop' by Brøderbund. You can choose a calendar of any year, any color any text style, many different formats, etc. It's very versatile and lots of fun.

It sounds like Ulrich is volunteering to produce this calendar each month. Cool!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Yeah Ulrich!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ulrich, I assume you can make it with active hyperlinks to the appropriate RU thread for the dates?

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Way 2 go, Ulrich!

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Jo, I just looked up " My Family. com . Boy that is nice! Can't take the time to really get into it right now. ( have 2 of my grandchildren for 2 weeks) But am looking forward to getting into it after they go home. Always wanted something to remind me of Sp. dates. When are we getting together? Binky :))))))

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Ulrich, you go, man! Thanks! :>)

Crossville, TN

Binky...gotta see when Jan and Frances can come up that way with me...in the next few weeks for sure. Jo

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Binky :))))))))

All I am equipped to do is to supply the calendar pages as JPEGS or BMPS. Dave would have to write the program that ties it all together with the forums, buttons to click on and all that good stuff to integrate it into the system.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

The ball is in Dave's court!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Somehow we always manage to end up with the ball being back in Dave's Court!!!!

I love the calender but I can't even imagine what kind of a nightmare Dave would have to go through to create that!!!!

I did a similar calender in one of my programs, but the photo above is the best I could do to. Their is no way to link it to the right pages so I think for the moment we will leave it as is in the events forums at least.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Not nightmare really, programming challenge! :-)

The calendar ideas will have to be put on hold for now. What we have is special forums that are indeed serving this purpose (although not exactly what we need, they ARE working). I have too many other things on my plate, so this is very low on my TODO list. We may revisit this after I get a lot of the other big items taken care of.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Sounds good to me, Dave.
