Now that the DG Angel Quilt is done....

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I too think raffle is the way to go. The quilt is BEAUTIFUL!!

Quoting:
How would the program work Dave? Would you enter the info as the money was sent to you?

It can work however you want it to work. We can simply publish a mailing address for poeple to send their checks to. Each so-many-dollars means one entry into the raffle box.

Then, I can email you and tell you how many arrived from each person and you can print them and put them in a hat, or however you like.

Or, we can do the whole thing electronically. Probably I need to go talk to the courthouse permit office and see if there's anything I need to do before we can do this, though. Let me hear your thoughts on the implementation, though!

After finding out what is legal, why don't we send the money directly to DG Headquarters. That way, we won't have to send it through the system twice. (less chance for mix-ups)

I don't care if it is all handled electronically, or if we manually draw a name from a hat...I think that is unimportant. Whatever is simpler for Dave to impliment.

We can send our money by Roadrunner with the quilt from the Roundups if she agrees though.

How do we let folks know about the Angel Quilt that may not visit all of the forums? Maybe a new thread that everyone gets on their homepage when they sign on? I don't want to be pushy about advertising it, but still want all folks to be aware of what is going on.

Does everyone think the chance prices that I wrote above are fair? It's a starting point and we can be flexible if people have other suggestions.

How long should we let the raffle go on? Say, we get this up and rolling in the next week....in time for RU. When should we close it out and draw a name? Nov1 or Dec 1? Something like that?

And I also hope that everyone thinks that Dave and Trish should get a chance at the quilt too, if they want.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Do it the easiest legal way....

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

Is there a way that you could start a thread that is automatically watched by everyone, Dave?
Folks could always unwatch if they weren't interested....

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Well, I think it's a shame that only the folks from the KYRU and the MSRU will be able to actually see it before it'e raffled off. The contributors put SO much work into it, I just feel it should hold over until next summer when more RU's have had a chance to see it.

ON THE OTHER HAND, not a large percentage of us attend any RU so maybe your plan for a raffle end-date by mid-December is appropriate. Someone could have it by Christmas.

I will buy ONE raffle ticket but I have to say that if by some Miracle my ticket is drawn, I'd likely donate the quilt back to the Angel Fund for another raffle. Not that I don't like the quilt, it just does't go with my decorating style... and I'd like to see the Angel Fund continue to grow.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

On another note, if i win it, i will keep it!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

We were hoping that more RU's would get to see it, and if folks want to hold it over, I'd be more than happy to. It's just my experience that there is a flurry of activity around something for a short amount of time and then interest sort of tapers off.

They do raffle a quilt at the Paducah Quilt Show each April that way though. You purchase your chances and view the quilt, and then the next year, the name is drawn at a dinner...Then they start the whole thing over with another quilt for the next year on the next day.

However the majority wants it will be fine with me......what about you other quilters? Tell us what you think?

Crossville, TN

Looks like I am going to have to get bonded after all Stan!! I would be glad to carry the money to Dave if that is OK with everyone...and pick up some more cash at the MS RU...and from some people I plan to see in Fl. I do like the Electronically drawing way though. Be SURE I have a complete list of all who bought chances and how many...

I'll ask my DIL, TnMom/Donna to handle this at our KY RU if it is OK...since she hasn't been on here enough to get appointed to a job.

I don't relish having this carry over into next year...too much can happen between times. JMHO Jo

(P-s-s-s-s-t, Dave.....if I don't show up at your house by Oct. 19th....send out a posse!)

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Have we found out any info on the raffle yet? Just wanting to get our ducks in a row before next week.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Count me in on a raffle! That quilt is stunning. :)

Me too. I like the sound of Dave handling it also. I don't think we need to let it roll over to next year though. Just my humble opinion. The momentum is building now and I say "strike while the iron is hot".

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Is there a way to put it in the "extras" (like the DG store used to be) and let us use paypal as well? Maybe we could each be assigned numbers for each ticket on view instead of mailing out, just list the names and their numbers, then draw one?

Y'all did a fantastic job! It would be nice to see a big page with the quilt on it!

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Don't forget me!!! I am keeping a eye out for any news . wont to buy my winning ticket!!! :)))))))) Binky

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

If I win, I'll display it here and everyone will just have to stop by and see it for themselves!!!!! A permanent site for visiting "the Quilt" and me!!! I think the angel fund will be well funded for long time by this great effort of love by the quilters. Well done all!!!! May your charity return to you ten fold! I want as many chances on the quilt as I can possibly save up money for. Lou
