911 HELP...WHITE POWDER IN SOIL

I was doing some weeding in my full sun flower bed that has a couple of stella de ora and annuals in and I noticed some white powder looking stuff. Is this okay or is it a fungus or mold that needs treating. I was cleaning the bed out to plant some new daylilies that was sent to me and I don't want them to be harmed.

Hard to tell, Lisa. Take a sample to your county agent. Maybe he'll have an answer for you.

I've seen this both in the clay soil in Calif and the sandy soil here and I'd sure like to know what istoo?
