saw this in a magazine. its a long tube that you attach your hose to. it claims the water digs the hole for your up to 36 inches four times faster that you can dig it with a shovel. says it works in any kind of soil and even removes deeply embedded rocks, which is what i have.
anyone have experience with something like this?

Sure, it will dig a hole, as wide as the tube is, and leave you in a sea of mud unless you pump it out with a shop vac while you are evacuating the hole. Try a power auger, if you can rent one! It may get hung up on a rock (or many rocks!) but it's a cleaner job. We used one for the post holes for our deck, and any way you look at it it's hard work.
