Candle Tree in Distress

Flower Mound, TX(Zone 7b)

My poor candle tree was doing so great - and suddenly the leaves began to curl and some are looking yellowed a bit. I've noticed some ants on the plant, but could they be causing the curl of the leaf? I don't want to lose it!

Here is a picture of the leaves...

I don't have any answers but do want to know what has happened since I just got some of these plants in a secret trade earlier in the summer. I'll be watching. I did have ants on mine at one time but dusted with sevin and that was the end of them. Jenny

shearpamela, I had the same type of leaf on my brugmansia and they said it was broad mites, then I noticed my candle tree had the same on the leaf, I sprayed them with a product called neem oil, sprayed once then again in 7 days. Seems to have worked. Are your leaves also a yellowish color? I am hoping to over winter my plant in the house this winter since it didn't bloom for me. Cathy

Yes they are a little yellowed, and not growing normally anymore it seems, but still hanging in there. I did spray with Neem this morning, and will continue to do so if it will help. Thanks for your input and help!
