Beautiful, Delicate Morning Glorys Cont. #4

I'm thinking that part of the problem is the heat with Japanese mg's. It seems that nearly everyone that had a problem lives in a hot climate. I know we sure have it here in South Texas. We are supposed to be in the 90's all this week, and that's pretty darn hot for this time of year.

Gourd,
I have & have ALWAYS had lousy seed production on the Japanese MG's, so I don't think the problem is specific to Park seed. So don't feel bad! :~)

I think you are right Sylvia, the heat is a big factor. I know in the early sprig my no Beni, Izume, Hatsu and Shin were all doing wonderful..........then it got hot. It was like you poured hot water on them as soon as the sun came out. Some just out and out died.....
So as I said next year I am going to do alot of mine differently. Putting them in pots will allowe me to move them if I need to and keep them out of direct sun.

Ditto on the heat.....they hated the coastal Texas high temps.

my 2 cents worth, for here in OH, we had terrible rains all spring, a hot dry to some light rains in the summer, then more late summer rain, seemed like it rained all the time!! I lost alot of seeds due to rot! However, I am still getting some, luckily I had them covered because I think it was monday we had our first frost, but I had them covered so still tonight was picking seeds, now mind you, I would have many more if it hadn't been for the solid rainy year. We don't have to worry over the heat here (jealous of you all that have that wonderful temperature in summer :)

Next year I think I will be planting earlier in a hot house!

I am here just lurking. The ones I did get seeds from went very well. Have not been on much because of all the fall work in the garden. Just dug cannas today and have a bit more to do tomorrow. But I will definitely have seeds to trade. Just not ready to set it up right now. Thank you all for your beautiful pics.
