I read there is a hybrid Agapanthus that suppose to grow in zones up to 5. Is that true?
Agapanthus
The Headbourne hybrids are supposed to be hardier than many other members of this genus, but I don't think I've seen anyone rate them hardy THAT far north ;o) Mine go in the GH or in the crawlspace each winter.
Thanks for moving ,Terry, I sometimes never know where to post my questions. I am sorry to know this but wonder about the claim of some nurseries. Seems one can't trust them.
Well, a reputable nursery will back up their claim. If they state that a plant is hardy to zone 5, and a typical zone 5 winter kills the plant, they should replace it.
But I'd be leary of any nursery stating an Agapanthus is hardy that far north unless they are VERY specific that this is a new, ultra-hardy variety.
