I like the name Patches, but when I ran it past my son, he wasn't going for it. If he takes her, it's almost like keeping her. I raised two kittens a couple of years ago for another son. It was hard to let them go, but I had it in my mind from the start that they weren't staying and that helped. Plus they come to visit sometimes. Two is much better, they have each other so you never feel bad closing the door and leaving them alone.
How can people be so hearltless, how can people be so...
echoes, there was nothing against you. I put up a rant and decided it was too nasty about pet deserters. You are doing a great job. Thanks. Frank
Not a prob. I felt like ranting too, in fact the beginning of this was my way of ranting. I'm more sad about people like that than mad I guess. They don't know what they are missing. I'm sure they'll miss much more out of life than just the pleasures that pets give us.
Echoes, she's just beautiful! And so are you, God bless you!
She looks like my Katie. :)
Jerri
Thanks, I think she's real sweet too. She gave me a big snotty kiss last night, a most affectionate little thing. Getting harder and harder to think on giving her up.
:)
echoes has a new cat! echoes has a new cat! Face it - she's adopted you - there was a reason she came running up to you. You obviously suffer from the same affliction I and my DH do - we have "SUCKER" written across our foreheads that only cats can see!!! LOL!
Good luck and post more pics if you can!
Will try and get some more tonight. Any ideas on how old she is? Couple of months? I think I'll have to feed her with a syringe again. She's not getting enough. I'm trying to remember about kittens, but ....brain fade. When Blue came and was so sick, the vet told me I could break open a cold capsule and mix in the food. But that was an adult, I'm afraid to give to a kitten. Just steam I guess.
I'd bet she's 6-8 weeks old from the looks of her. If she's not eating enough - it may be because of her illness. I know you might not want to spend any money on her - but if you can, please take her to the vet for a proper diagnosis. Things can change so quickly at that age and prolonged illness can damage things - like our baby kitty had bad ear infections for so long before we got her that now she's deaf. I wouldn't administer anything to her without talking to a vet first.
Good luck!
M.
I agree with mbock except that she might be a little older. Hang in there echoes! Do what you're "gut" tells you. You're gut knows!
I'd say more than 6-8 weeks, too. Maybe as much as 9-12... just small due to dehydration and malnourishment.
She is really starting to look good. Now that her eyes are starting to clear up, she looks like she was pretty healthy until she got this flu. It can start pretty fast. My guess is that whoever got her from the original family didn't want to keep her when she got sick. They probably didn't have her long. In fact I am going to phone a family that has a sign up in the post office trying to give away kittens. If I find out who dumped her - LOOK OUT!
Detective echoes. :-D
Dead end echoes. They only gave away their first kitten yesterday.
From her last pic. her name is Toe-Foo.
Oh Frankay - that's cute! I think that should be her name for sure!
I keep wanting to call her Honey.
Right now she's poooor baaayby.
Baby. I like that too. :)
How's she doing today? I'm such a sucker for a kitty. :)
She's still very pluggy nose. But she seems happy, and is eating pretty well. She's not just poor baby. She's real sucky baby. I try to just sit with her and watch TV before bed. Put it this way, I 'm built like Mrs. Claus and she cuddles under my chin. Turns and looks at my face, "cute aren't I".
Nobody (from her supposedly new home) has even come to look at her.
Awww, if I was getting a kitty, I'd be visiting!
You'd be welcome, but you'd probably be leaving with one of those kitties from town, not this one.
aaaaaaaaaaaw, snugglekitty has found her forever home I think... :)
Yes I think Pudge will be here for a while. Last night she coughed up this really gross thing that must have been stuck in her gut from before she found us. It wasn't a foreign object but we'll leave it at that. It must have been blocking her digestive system and I gave her some plain yogurt in the aft, along with her usual rations. She nibbled as usual. When we came back later in the evening, all the food was cleaned up and the yogurt. This thing was on the floor with a little fresh blood. She was happy, happy, happy and hasn't quit eating since. Hence the name Pudge. I kinda like it.
Is Pudge sticking her tongue out at us? Seems pleased about that upchucking.
She's still breathing through her mouth, although she seems much better.
Wonder if she had a bad hairball that caught other stuff with it. Glad she's got a great appetite now!
Went for another stroll to the end of our road the other night. Not to look for more cats, but because another one found us. I just had to make sure there wasn't a sign down there that says DROP CATS HERE. This one is all grown, a good hunter, and very friendly.....she called me over this AM to see the squirrel she was having for breakfast. Don't know what to do this time. I just can't bring this one in the house, my little black one go nuts when she even comes to the door. So we've been supplementing her diet till we figure something out or she goes away.
My experience has been that after a few days they begin to ignore each other and then later they actually seem to like each other. Mostly I just give them plenty of space and they sort it out between themselves.
Tell your little black one to get over herself!! LOL This looks like such a sweetie, she deserves a home.(with you)

Don't think that's going to happen. My place is too small for four cats, and all my cats are indoors only. I don't think this newbie would like that. You can't feed birds and let your cats out to get them, for one issue. Plus too many dangers out there for my babies. I can't afford the vet bills for another one, who probably needs fixin. I think a townie should take this one. Don't guilt me up anymore. It's hard enough to come in and close the door on her.
Gotcha, no guilt trips! :-)
No guilt intended, honest injun! I'm just so impressed with your love and concern for your kitties, but even I know you can't be mother to them all.

"Legend" says that in the Great Depression hoboes carved a cat face on fences to signal that a "sucker" lived there and was certain to feed a hungry hobo......I wonder if kitties somehow draw a hobo at the entrance to some properties to signal that cats will be fed and possibly loved..LOL. I used to always have cats, kittens and unwanted dogs dropped at our place, but moved 14 miles from town and I guess that is too far to travel to drop off an unwanted animal as we have not had any out here. (but WE did drive the 14 miles to get Charity Pup)
Here's a site with the signs: http://www.slackaction.com/signroll.htm
And this is Echoes, "a kind lady lives here":
I have one of those "kind lady" signs, GW, given to me some years ago!
I had heard of those, too. My grandfather and grandmother had one on their fence. Cool!
Darius... here are the lyrics to 'Easy to Be Hard': http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/hair/easytobehard.htm
Thanks, Weez... Plus, it's a cool site!
