Anyone growing Nicotiana glauca?

Brewster, NY(Zone 6b)

I picked it up at a local nursery. It's grown practically into a tree and I'm impatiently waiting for flowers. Does anyone grow this and know how its flowering time compares to other Nickies? I have various N. sylvestris & alata cultivars all in bloom, but no sign of buds on this one. (the foliage is way cool anyway!)

Nicotiana glauca is a chilean native shrub/small tree.

Check this link to see the flowers:

Do not expect flowers to be fragrant (rather the contrary).

Thank you Ursula -

How exciting to hear from Chile! I did look the plant up when I bought it and saw that it was from your area, also that it gets quite big - but I didn't know the flowers don't smell good. Oh Well...It's OK - it's outside of my son's window, not mine :) !! I'll try a little fertilizer & keep it moist, as one of the links you sent advised. Do you live within the city? And you still have a garden? And is it cold now?

Hi Wink,

Yes, unfortunately I do live right in the middle of the big city and have a very tiny gardening area. My goal is to move out of town, to a quiet place (hopefully in the mountains) where I can garden and have lots of pets. Now I only have my Muschito (male cat). And yes, it's cold at this time of the year (for our standards), specially today after 4 days rain.

Enjoy your summer!
