Worms/caterpillars on my Snow Bush

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Yep, Snow Bush, those pesky invasive bushes. Well this one isn't invading anything, it's being invaded. These little worms have ate the whole thing and started in on the one 2 plants away from it. They haven't bothered the TiSister, Hollyhocks or other plants in the vicinity.

I bought some Bayer, tree and shrub systemic treatment and put it on my cannas for the leaf rollers, roses for what ails them and also on these. (I have 2 more of these bushes in my herb garden, but won't put the treatment there)

Will the Bayers work on these worms and if so how long will it take to kill them?

Thanks for your help.

It's an inchworm, the larvae of one of the Geometrid moths. Most of the moths in this family are beautiful

Molly,
I can see the job these little critters are doing on your plants. There is something I've been reading about lately that would be safe to use on all of your plants and should take care of all of the problem including others as well. It's an organic approach so you should be able to use it on your herbs too. The solution that I'm talking about are the predatory mites. They eat all sorts of garden pests including moths, caterpillars cutter worms aphids and scale during the juvenile stages among other things. I just try to stay away from chemicals any chance I get. Good luck.

Thanks, BF

The original question of how long it takes for the solution to work ended up being about a week. The inch worms are gone now and I won't be here long enough to see if the bush comes back. Funny thing, thoses worms didn't attack any other plants, just the one.

In my new garden I will check out your suggestions.

Ah... Yes. I did get off track didn't I? Thanks for keeping me on the subject. I see that you already have the Bayers so what I suggested may only be useful for future use. Good luck and glad to hear that the inch worms are gone though.
