Is it too late to plant Lord Baltimore in a small greenhouse to have it grow large enough to over winter safely?
Thanks for you help.
Lord Baltimore
Which Lord Baltimore are you talking about? There is an Iris LB and a Daylily LB, and according to the Plants Database, Hibiscus named Lord Baltimore?
If you're talking about the Iris or Daylily, you can put them in the ground now. I planted Hibiscus late last summer, and it returned this year.
i planted lord baltimore hibiscus late last summer and it's just about ready to bloom - can't wait!!!!
Thanks for your help. I'm sorry I didn't say hibiscus. I'll get them out today.
I bought one last year and it didn't come back. :( I bought Blue River II at the same time and it is about 5' tall and blooming very nice!
i was worried mine wouldn't come back either as it was very very late in starting. in our zone they die all the way back - this years i'll be mulching it with leaves again. i'll post pics as soon as the buds open - they're gorgeous.
This post got me to go out and look at mine. There is no sign of new growth so I pulled it up. The roots are still very nice and pliable and I broke a couple to check. I moved it to a more sunny spot, planted it in good soil and gave it a good drink. I think it may have been way too shaded under the willow that grew way too fast! LOL
It definately looks healthy!
send photos of the blooms!
Shoot Tereasa, I meant to tell you to plant in full sun where it will get plenty of water. I think that was the mistake with mine. It got plenty of sun last year but the willow went amuck this spring. LOL All my others are blooming or have buds, planted in full sun. I have not given up on Lord Baltimore.
