Heber Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Jo-- I can see why you are so proud I would be also. My step son (but like real son) is over there and I am scared to death I can imagine how worried you are to have a girl in the service. God Bless all the girls that are as good as guys in the service! Be Proud!!! I am proud for you! Marie

HI, some ties went out yesterday. (half were Green Bay Packers!)
Yardbird-also had to do a bit of re-read on info-been awhile since I made my prom formals (and yes, we did have cars, even back then). It is just harder now-to find that itty-bitty hole in the needle...
LSP-Sandy-Wonderful tag
To all, thanks for the sharing.
Will there be an ongoing collection box for cards, condiments (for when I go out for home-cooking) etc. ? I get lots of stuff and nothing goes to waste.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Hi Marcia I'll keep my eye out for them.. Not sure I know how to sew on Packer Green.... LOL..... Just kidding can't wait to get them.

I could totally relate to the re-read and the itty bitty hole in the needle it is hard getting old physically when I feel like such a kid inside.

Take care
Sandy

Hi all... Sorry been too busy to post the last couple days. Marcia I got the ties they look great!!!! My son wants one of the Green Bay ones LOL. Sweet Pea got the tags also very nice. I have been debating rather to cut them apart and put them in the bags with the ties or to stick them on the bags what do you think?? Time is short so I gotta go again. Will post a pic of the gift from the garden as soon as it is all ready. Thanks Again All

Sandy......this was such a great idea that I brought it up to the Widowed Support Center where I am 1st Vice-Pres. We voted to make them for our Soldiers from our Army base that are in Iraq (Ft. Huachuca)....since we work with the Chaplains OFfice I thought we should do this too.

Now...anyone else want to help???

Jo

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Jo,count me in I will be proud to help.

Crossville, TN

Ruth...that is great...if you want to sew them and mail them to me (leaving about a 3" opening in the center) I will add the crystals to them.

We plan to use a lot of camaflouge...from Wal mart...they were out of the regular cotton, and not having the patience to wait for it, I bought some of the PJ Flannette that was camaflouge print...I think they will do until the cotton comes in. You will be greatly appreciated. I would like to get them out of my hands before I leave for the KY RU...so how about the second week in Sept. deadline?

Tahnsk! Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Hey count me in .. I have gotten pretty good at them. Not only the ones for our gift to the troops but I made my neighbor one for when he is out in the field. My DH now has one for golf my son for when he is working outside and 2 dear friends who work in the car factories have them. LOL we may start a new craze here too.

Crossville, TN

OH that would be wonderful...my Ladies of the Widow Support Center will be glad...only about 4 of us that can still sew, therefore any help is appreciated. I should start a new thread for this. Jo

Valley Village, CA

Put two string of yarn or cord one of each end of a safty pin, then fasten one on the end of the hole, and the other push through to the other end, then pull to turn the head band inside out. Tiny places I use silk thread, it is very strong, button hole thread will work as well as waxed dental floss, now off to look for left over greeting cards to mail to you, how do I get your address. SweetPea. We have about 50 ties do you care if I forward on your instructions to RR??? They are so great I would hate them to go to waste.
Sandy

Crossville, TN

OOOOH That would be wonderful! I talked to the Gal in charge of the Chaplains office (they come and go but JO (her name) stayes forever and knows everything to do) said to shoot for 500 TIES!!! OH MY! OK Let me get to work....LOL Thanks again. Jo

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

Sandy, yes -- please send to Roadrunner! I was wondering if more tags would be needed.

Roadrunner, let me know if you run out of tags, and I will either make more or send you the WordPerfect template to print more (I used Avery labels -- but anything sticky would do, I suppose).

Jean

Crossville, TN

THanks LA. Sweetpea...My DD made a label up for us...and I am going to have them printed at the print shop...and not use up all my color ink!! I can probably talk them into printing them as a donation...LOL

Thanks so much....Will you be at the MS RU?..if so I will give you a BIG hug. Jo

This has been so wonderful to do...and any help ya'll can give me on my project is greatly appreciated!! Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Just an update on this project and I hope noone is upset. Because of the controversy with TheHumbleBumble I was pretty nervous about sending all our stuff to her to forward to Iraq. After alot of soul searching (I hate to break a promise) I decided my real promise was to the troops not necessarily to HB so I sent her the ties I had made for RR's project and sent our original box to Jo to add with her box comming from her group. This way I am certain they will get where they belong. Hope this is all agreeable to you.

Sandy

Crossville, TN

OH Sandy!! That is a good solution. Please send me the names of EVERYONE that had a hand, wheather it is money, labels or labor, in this project so the Widowed Support Center can acknowledge every one of them! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Thank you too!!!! Your project gets a jump start and I get peace of mind ...make sure you don't lift that box when you get it the man at the post office said it weighed 48lbs.

Crossville, TN

Will take my "strong man" with me to the post office...LOL Jo

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I have been wondering about this O_R and I think you did the right thing. (((old_rose)))

Crossville, TN

You don't know how much I appreciate this.

Ginlyn...I received your ties today...they look great...and you said you could only sew a straight seam...good sewing. Jo

Crossville, TN

Ruth....I recieved your ties to day....COOL Coot ties!! LOL Thanks bunches...Jo

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Jo I was glad to help.

Crossville, TN

WOW! and WOW! I got the box of goodies today...and I DO MEAN GOODIES!! My soldiers are going to be "blowing bubbles" all over the place...maybe a Bubble gum contest? The only thing I will add to it, plus our ties, is probably some Taco and Arby sauces...maybe chapstick, and maybe lotion....or some....aw shucks...this is GREAT! Thanks a bunch...

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Glad you got it.. Glad you like it... *** grinning ear to ear*** I was starting to get nervous that there was a chubby , bubble blowing, very cool mailman between here and Arizona.....
Sandy

Crossville, TN

For all of you who helped with the box for our Soldiers...THANK YOU!!! It went out yesterday from the Chaplains Office here at Ft. Huachuca, AX.

After it left one of the Chaplains asked the girl in charge...which just happens to be named JO...what all was in it...she mentioned some flea collars (that I had added), and he said to send a memo to the Chaplains that would receive it in Iraq and tell them to remove them. Seems they have proven to cause skin irritations and sores on the soldiers legs...so don't send flea collars...I'm glad I only sent about 7...all they had at the Dollar Store!!

Thanks again for you wonderful gifts!! Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Wooo Hooo glad to see it go where it belongs Jo.. Thank you so much for everything you and your group did..

Sandy

Crossville, TN

The thanks should go to ya'll!! Jo
