I can see where they would need chapstick. My lips dry out in a couple days when I go to the desert. How about small bottles of hand lotion?

I have a bunch of "Country" and related magazines with lots of pretty pittures and wholesome articles on life in the U.S. In the states, a young man might find them corny, but over there, they would probably appreciate them. I could send you those along with some extra money for postage.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Books and magazines aren't too bad on the pocketbook if sent by media mail. :) Cards are going out tomorrow - 'bout a 4" stack!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Kelly sounds great to me. Magazines were on the original list from the marine mom's website But I was afraid of shipping cost. But Kooger is right (there was never a doubt) if we mail them as media it is not too bad.

Jo...... got your cool ties today... Wow they are beautiful you are really good........ DD and I will fill and stitch them up tonight. How did you turn them rightside out with such a tiny opening?

Feels like Christmas in July here. :D Christmas in August in Iraq. :D

Heber Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

more so in Arkansas--- May God Bless you All

Crossville, TN

Sandy...I did the CENTER line of stitch AFTER they were turned and pressed. I use a straight pin to pull the corners out as much as I can....to make them into a point. Glad you like them. Jo

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

If I send the magazines to you via media mail and going out in the mail on Friday, do you think they'll get to you in time?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Kelli why don't you send them direct to Marie? I am packing up the ties and such I am getting here then sending to Marie to add the cards and I am sure some stuff from home. That would give it a few extra days. Ok with you Marie??

Heber Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Kellie they should get to me on time---- email me for my address--- I will include them in the box---they would love to see the green in the pictures. Everyone comments about depressing the tan color is over there. I can't imagine! Marie

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

My package went out in today's mail, you should get it Sat. if not let me know.

Ruth

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

OH yeah more presents in the mail.... TY

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

The 'innards' stuff arrived yesterday. Thanks, Sandy. Will get to it as soon as we get back!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Can we still get in on this? I have a sewing machine and stuff I would love to send to our troops........ Let me know and I can send my address or I can make up the tubes and send them to someone to fill............

Old Rose.....I quit smoking January 12th of this year after smoking for 30+ years, it hasn't been easy and many, many times I have wanted to say oh #$@@ and grab a cig, but I have held on and stuck it out, it does get better............ keep it up you can win...........
And yes I had quit many times before, sometimes only making it a few days or weeks, but this time I took it one day at a time..........

Dee never too late I would love your addition to our care package. Because of timing I think it may be better if you just make them up and leave an opening for me to fill then I can finish them up. The "innards" that Kooger just got I mailed on Monday so am afraid it might delay it if I try to mail you some innards. I am shooting for August 13th ish for mailing.

Thanks for the encouragement on my challange to quit smoking. It is a daily challange but at least it isn't an every minute of every day challange anymore. I am feeling the benifits now things taste better, able to jog again for more then a block, can play with my kids without having to bow out to take a smoke break. I am still keeping my journal up so I will never forget these feelings.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I think the 'innards' were here a day earlier but had DS get the mail and it had a 'postage due' stamp and he didn't know what he was supposed to do so he didn't pick it up. :)

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Oh Kooger I am sooooo sorry they came postage due. I thought 2 stamps would handle it but didn't weigh it. The guys in the mail room are usually really good about adding more if I guess wrong ....... So Sorry how much do I owe you?

Sandy

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Not a big deal, no money needed, was only .32 ... I only mentioned it later b/c you were wondering about sending another pkg. out and thot it took so long to my house. :)

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Rose send me your addy, I will get some made up over the weekend and get them in the mail to you by Monday. I have some fabric that would be approiate for them so I can get started right away.

old_rose, I will mail the labels to you on Monday.

Are the labels to be affixed directly to the kerchiefs, or is each kerchief going to be inserted into an individual bag?

This will help me decide which type of label is necessary when I go to Office Depot tomorrow morning. Thanks!

Jean

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Hi Jean,

They will be in individual ziploc bags. Thanks again for your help. My address is in the exchange or I can email it to you let me know if you need it.

Sandy

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

So each one we make needs to be in a zip lock bag? Can we just send a box of zip locks or do you want us to put them in the bag and then send them to you?
:o)
Dee

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Just send the ties. They will be put together with the tags before we ship them out.

Sandy

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

old_rose, the labels (example shown below) are on their way to you. There are 108 of them.

I hope that the layout and wording are acceptable. If not, they can be redone. (I thought it would be nice to include a 'thank you' to these folks -- and I also included the URL for Dave's Garden in case someone might want to talk to the folks at home).

If you need more, just let me know. And thanks for letting me participate in this way!

Jean

Edited to add: All those carrier returns do not appear on the printed label.

Crossville, TN

I wish! I have projects running out my ears! But yours was the "BEST" one. Thanks for letting me help.

I just found out that my Granddaughters ship is NOT going to the Gulf after all...going to do a "Good Will Tour" of different places...they are in Hawaii now....BUT...her ship has been there 3 times....in fact.. I saw her on TV the night the war started. She is Career Navy...and I'm one proud Grandma. Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

I knew you were up to your eyeballs in projects but I couldn't resist teasing you a little. glad you thought this was the BEST project I thinks so too but I am a little prejustice. Thank you for all your help.

Hey isn't california coming up soon???? I love your adventures they are as close as I can get to the real thing for a couple years yet. One kid in collage now and another one going next year kinda put the choke hold on my wallet. I will however be working at the Arizonia Biltmore for 10 days in October might be able to extend a day if you are anywhere close. Can't extend too far cause I have to take time off from job #2 to go away for job #1. So much to do and so little time. Thanks for everything you do Jo and for all the adventures I tag along on. Keep on Rollin' and writing about it.

Sandy

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I have not been feeling well and will not be able to get anything mailed out this time around. :-( Maybe next time.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

No problem Kelli Thanks for the heads up. Hope your feeling better real soon.

Sandy

Heber Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Jo where is your granddaughter based out of? I had a brother and sister in law in the navy for a long time and they were at Camp Pendleton (I thinK) and at Camp Lejune and in Pensacola and now in Washington State. Marie

Crossville, TN

Sandy, what will you be doing at the AZ Biltmore...besides ENJOYING? I will be gone to the KY and MS RU until about Oct 20th....would love to meet with you if that is possible.

Marie, My Amy is stationed at Lemoore, CA...an Air BAse...she is an Aviation Tech, but will be stationed in San Diago when the ship gets back...???

Hi Jo love that picture Thank God for those kids. You must be proud.

I wish I were going to be enjoying at the Biltmore but truth be told I will probably be working from 6am-11pm everyday and not ever leave the property.. It is really a lot more fun then it sounds. I work for a company that sets up meetings and conventions and will be helping out on one out there in October it is alot of really hard work but fun and well worth it in the long run. Kinda like my garden LOL.... I am not sure of the dates I have to be there and if there will be any wiggle room for me to go out a day early or come home a day late but I will let you know more as they clue me in on what I will be doing. Would love to come see you while I'm in the neighborhood.

Sandy

Crossville, TN

Sandy, I'm 4 hours away from Phoenix...but will meet you half way...about Tucson!! PROVIDING the dates are when I can. Jo

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

sound like a plan for now. I will let you know more about the dates later when I know more. *** crossing fingers, toes, eyes .etc... ***
