Invasive vine control?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

We have some invasive vines - self planted when we knew no better :(

I saw something - don't remember where - that if you take the vines and stick them in an organic mix in a bucket or bottle, that they will 'drink' up the liquid and be destroyed at the root.

Lots of our stuff is mixed amongst perennials so digging just hasn't handled yet and we are almost all organic, so overall spraying is not an option. We're thinking about a water/vinegar solution.

Any thoughts?

Dea, I've heard that putting the trailing ends of the vine in a bleach solution will do the trick, but I haven't tried it yet. My neighbor's trumpet vine is all over my patios, but I'm afraid if I kill what's at my place I will also kill his. Let me know if you try it.

I've heard of putting a solution (not organic, but an organic woud work) into several small zip-lock bags and then zipping them onto several leaves of the vine. That's what I need to do with the bindweed out front. It's horrible, just choking everything.

Gonna try a couple different methods this weekend and will take photos to compare and show - if it works :)

Kimberly,
Have you tried the baggie method, on the bindweed yet? I have some too, okay, a lot of it! And it is all entwined with a rose, there is no way I can dig it out.
It has nice flowers...but then, so do Morning Glories, and they are not allowed to strangle things, especially, my Roses!

I have not yet, Melvatoo. It's one of those to-do's we keep putting off. In the meantime, it's covering my azalea bushes, intertwined with my gaura, and looped around my rose bush. It's such awful stuff and has roots everywhere in that bed.
