I'm sorry. I forgot to mention the camelia shrubs. They're in the first photo on each side of the bed.

jdee check out the "show us your yard" thread on Garden Talk!

Oh and really nice arrangement BTW. Makes me wish I could grow hostas! (sigh)

It doen't look like a newbie's garden. Very pretty color contrasts. If I lived in texas, I'd have to have a few acres for all the beauties I saw last month when I was in Katy for the birth of my first grandchild(aboy named Ike). I especially like how many of the landscapers there had lined the front schrubery with white caladiums. The contrast from the street was really something. Keep up the good work! Lou

jdee, a belated Welcome to DG, and thanks for posting photos. This forum is as good a place as any, and they look wonderful!

jdee, welcome to DG, I'm sure I am late with the welcome. Your new garden is very pretty and nicely planned. It must be on the north side of your house or shade from large tree, as the Hostas look very happy. Donna aka rutholive

Everything looks so established it's like an older garden. When those hostas grow up they'll really be something.
I like all the color touches and love yur little girl.

and oh yea, Jdee, post your pics here is fine. There is a yard thread going on in Perennials forum but they look fine here. Pics get posted most anywhere. Your house looks awesome.

Thank you so much every one. My DH and I did it together. He has more experience than I do, but niether of us are experts. Yes, my house faces the north and is well shade by a gorgous oak. I'm very proud of what we've done. I really could kick myself for not taking "before" pictures, so I could keep track of our progress.

Jdee, didn't I tell you you could do it? Your garden and hanging plants look wonderful also your house and porch look very suitable for your display of plants.

Keep it up!

I always look at the architecture. Your house looks like a Craftsman-style. Is it an older house, perhaps 20s or 30s?
Be sure you consider the mature size of your shrubs when they grow up or they will cover your windows or stairs or walkways......

Thank you so much. I love my house. I think partly because it is an older house. The street I live on is a small one that is less traveled. The traffic I have are people who live in the neighborhood, or visitors of people in the neighborhood. It's nice, because even though I'm in town, I still have my peace and quiet.
