Is this a mutation?????

Flat Rock, NC(Zone 7b)

This is weird! Our potatoes have done better this year than ever. But, there's something weird going on with the vines themselves. I tried to take a pic of this on the plant, but my camera isn't that great. Could someone please tell me what this is? I'll post another one of it off the vine also

We have found several of htese on the potato vines. They look like small tomatoes! Help!?!

Potatoes do occasionally make seed. Since they are related to tomatoes I would not be surprised if the fuit is not similar.

I read a thread on another forum where they had crossed tomatos with potaoes. Maybe you have that?

After I posted, I cut the fruit open. It smells and looks like a tomato! This is just too weird.

It's a potato fruit http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=potato+fruit&btnG=Search

Don't eat it!!! The fruit is poisonous

It happened to me a few years ago, too: http://davesgarden.com/t/266554/

Terry, did you ever try planting these to see what would happen?

I planted the seeds from the fruit from my All Blue this winter, never germinated. Try to grow yours! You have nothing to lose by trying!
