It's not Blackjack....I've got that one.
Moby - mmmmmm.....I think this makes the THIRD possibility that I've bought a bulb of to see if I can get a match. Guess I'll be planting this one behind or in front of the mystery plants.
Still looking for an id on this one.....
was crim. ever in your lily pad befor, bet she put a BJ next to an orange, and you can guess what happend, shame on you crim.
Hi, I'm new to Dave's Garden, and I was just kind of looking around and I happened upon this thread. Have you identified this lily yet? If not, maybe this might be interesting to you. I went to the plantlilies.com and under bi-tone they have one called First Lady that looks a lot like your lily... Just a guess..

Hi Ticker! Welcome to Dave's Garden or DG as we all like to call it!
Diann - WELCOME to DG!! Thanks for taking a look at my lily. First Lady does look similiar but I note that the description says it has a cream/ivory center. Mine is definitely yellow markings.
What are your gardening interests in terms of type of plants? You must like lilies to have come to this forum. If you ever need any help with DG, drop me a note or just post and you'll have tons of folks jumping in to give you a hand. BTW....you might be interested to know there is a Round-up (a gathering of DG members) planned for the first weekend in May in Des Moines. We'd love to see you there. Here's a link for the details......

Welcome to DG Ticker!
My goodness shame on you Kare- spreading such awful lies about me!
Buhahhahahaha. "hides the evidence." hehe
Hi, Ticker! Welcome to DG!! You won't find a nicer bunch of folks than you will meet here.
Hi guys, thanks for the nice welcome. Yes, I do have an interest in lilies. I find them real workhorses in the gardens. I'm also interested in daylily, peony, iris, poppy, hosta, etc., etc., etc. You get the idea.
Langbr, I guess the question is "Did you ever order from this place? i.e. plantlilies.com?" If so, what one person describes as cream or ivory can be what another person describes as yellow. However, you are the one that knows your lily the best and so I would defer to you on who you think it is or isn't. :)
Nice to meet all of you! and thanks for the welcome.

Ticker, I have some lavender poppies sprouting- when/if I can get them to bloom and set seeds- Id be happy to share with you. I've recently gotten addicted to poppies, LOL!
Diann-
Nope I've not ordered before from these folks, but I did order Sweet Kiss from them to compare. My lily is definitely yellow (bright yellow) and not cream or ivory.
Definitely head over to the Daylily forum if you've not yet. There are a couple of coop's that will be starting in the next week and good deals are to be had there for sure.
Thanks for looking at my lily and trying to help ID it. I have a feeling this particular ID will go on for a while. LOL
Brenda
langbar, I even sent a picture of your lily to a co. that sells lilies, they could not identify it either
sent to ladybugdl@mindspring.com
this is the answer
it is a type of lily (bulb). have no idea its common name. Dan
First of all, welcome to the lily nutskis Diann.
Secondly, Brenda, go look at Kiss Me Kate at
http://www.lilynook.mb.ca
See what you think
Inanda who won't ask how you know what is going. Dec 28 was my date so am almost 2 months !!!
Good for you!
I don't know what lily it is, but it is not kiss-me-kate.
Often when you try to identify a lily, double check any suspected match with www.prideon.com
Usually you can find detailed description such as outside color of (closed) buds. Color of stigma, pollen, and whether the petals should be ruffled, etc. If not matching, it can rule out potential matches.
At times it can be extremely difficult to match up because you don't know if you got one of those thousands of lilies in circulation which has not been classified.
I was on my way back to say it is not Kiss Me Kate. Oh well, still trying.
Ginny
Me too, Ginny. I say we go steal it and chip it to death!
Moby,
Be more dignified PLEASE. A far better way would be to turn up in Kansas and offer to help Brenda with her garden - while she is at work. lol
It really bugs me that nobody can ID it.
Ginny
Please pardon my indiscretion. I can be so terribly crass sometimes. Tisk, tisk.... ;)
Crass .... crassula ... hmm ... time to get out the dictionary. Bet they are from the same word.
Just noticed you are in Lincoln. Is that where Boy's Town is ??
Ginny
Latin crassus thick, gross
Yep, I think you're correct!
Boys Town? Where the bad boys live? Right again, that would be my house.
However, the public Boys Town is just outside of Omaha.
sorry but I gave up trying to find the exact same flower, I spent a whole day looking all over the Internet.
I have no idea what it is but inanda you have to figure it out and when you do I want to go in with you on order for it!!!!!!!!!

Just poking in for a moment, ladies......closed on the new home today!!! I'm praying this lily pokes it's head up before I sell this house so I can bring it with me!!! I seriously considering dragging my feet on the sell of our current home until enough of my plants are poking their heads up this spring. I just can't bear the thought of leaving them behind to someone who most likely won't care as much about all the work I put in to selecting each of them!!!
I'll be back on in a couple of weeks.....moving day is now set for Wed. the 23rd! 1 week and counting.
god bless brenda with your new home and i don't blame you for wanting to keep all your gorgeous lilies. well they can't say they knew they were there if they look at the house now. LOL
Put it in your contract - that's what I did - I took my black currant bush and 'x' number of plants.
kooger, i hear that is a very good idea. i would do this too.
I think I found it I just bought some bulbs and they look alot like your
pic on the pic on the pkg. They are called 'Kiss me Kate"
It sure looks like it, but the stamen or anthers or whatever you call them, are not the same colour. K-M-K's are orange, Brenda's are yellow. http://www.lilynook.mb.ca/images/LAHybrids/Kiss-Me-Kate.jpg
It's not quite right but close Royal Sunset
http://bloom.co.nz/shop/index.php?cPath=2_16
I like Astronaut too
http://bloom.co.nz/shop/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=5&products_id=68
Rats I thought I found it !Boy RikerBear Those sure are pretty!!!!
Yes they are and now I HAVE to buy them! :-(
I'm gonna be so poor....boowho boowho
That Astronaut is sooooo close! Gorgeous!!
Thought so too, till I put them beside each other. :( Marc, those are both beauties. I think Astronaut really looks like Brenda's but need a better pic of the center, maybe, to be sure.
It's so hard to say, since cameras and lighting differences can come into play. I just have to order both the Royal Sunset and Astronaut and grow them out....purely for research I tell you....Honest. :-)
Of course it is, dear! And for that we're truly grateful ~
:-) Thank you thnak you one and all......LOL
It's so nice to see someone with such dedication towards research!! lol
I do it all for the betterment of gardeners everywhere..................................
Sending some scales across the border are you Marc? ;)
