DRAVENCAT VISITS FLORIDA, Read all about it!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I had the pleasure of meeting Dravencat yesterday! She is so nice and we had a great albiet short visit. Since she was visiting familiy here in Lynn Haven, she could only "escape" to my house for and hour or two. Her daughter is darling! Anyway, we packed in as much plant looking and talking as we could and she actually (everyone in Florida will really appreciate this) picked a dollar weed and asked me what it was! I told her that is how I got my DG name cause it is the main plant in my yard and is immune to roundup!
I am sorry I didn't have time to get Ginger_H and Crimsontsavo down here but it was an impromptu visit.
Nice to have met you and will plan on visiting you the next time I go to PA.

I just got home today about 6 pm. What a long trip. heehee I actualy picked some dollar weed and brought it home too. Oh I wish so bad that I could have made it an all day visit and seen Crims and Ginger too. Im soooo sorry I missed you guys. DH was trying to shuffle us everywhere and I got to go see weeds because the car needed a part and I snuck out with the help of my friend Lynn. I loved loved loved seeing weeds, you are such a great lady!! I got sunburned and bit by some small red ants and gained 10 pounds easy and looked at every plant I could and bought silly stuff that will break in a week and went to that alligator farm on rt. 10 oh so many things. Ill be posting some pictures in the next couple of days, Im still clearing out my email. I swear the counter said I had over 200 messages, ugh and most of it junk. I cant believe I didnt bring my camera to weed's but I was so excited. I was dancing around and the kids were slowly backing away from me. LOL

So glad you made it home safe...looks like a scarey drive! Did your kids enjoy their stay in Florida? Looking forward to seeing your pictures when you get settled back in.
Remind me later and I will send you a nice BIG box of dollar weed!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Janet,

So glad you had a good time, I emailed you the other day and thought you might be away.

Hey and ya coulda come down here I woulda given you some dollar weed. Cause in some places in my lawn, if I didn't have dollar weed, I'd have no lawn at all. (LOL) That hard wirey, runner ridden St Augustine sod they call grass that we have down here, seems to be strong and fierce enough to survive dollars.

:^))))
Molly

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Hey Molly, if we could come up with a good use for that weed, we could become rich and famous! Got any ideas?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

OH the pressure, Weeds, I'll ponder on that for a bit. LOL

:^))

The big guy on the ground is Buster and the big guy in the pool is DH. Isabelle finally figured out how to use that ring floaty to get around. Buster had so much fun playing with Isabelle that he started to protect her, from everyone, including me and DH. We decided to not let him spend as much time with her after he started growling at us when we would get near her. It was funny to watch when she was in the pool, if she went out further than he dared to go he would bark until she got close to the edge again.

This little guy washed up on the beach and I just happend to be there as he washed up. I kept him in a cup of water until everyone saw him so I could prove I caught the first fish,LOL. I let him go a few minutes later. But so pretty

All my beach pics turned out like this, I was too excited to be there and get in the water to try and make sure I could actualy see what I was taking a pic of. The little guy in the middle is my DS walking to the water.

It's great to see your smiling face, Janet! And I chuckled out loud when I pulled up the sleeping kids photo!! Wouldn't it be wonderful if kids came with a "go to sleep switch" on them??

I hope you and your family had a fantastic vacation. Nat

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Dollar weed picture coming soon..........

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Weeds I might need you to send me some more, I cant find the little plant I had anywhere. I wonder if it ran from me somewhere in N.C. when it realized I was taking it north.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had such a nice vacation and got in some time for visiting Weeds too!

Pleasant Grove, UT(Zone 6a)

I can't wait to see this weed Dravencat liked so much! Is it anything like a money plant, or silver dollars?

Claire

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

It's a cute plant weeds...It's growth kinda reminds me of Creeping Charlie on steroids.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

it's leaf look a little nasturtium like to me. Theyre little?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Weeds, I guess you gottem all.

I just don't know what happened to my dollar weed. Maybe they moved out when we had our septic tank dismantled. I don't use weed and feed anymore, but they are just gone!!

:^)))

P.S. I'm surely not complaining, the St Augustine has filled in nicely.

Bowie, AZ(Zone 8B)

Thank you Connie, for the pictures. Looks almost like a thin ground cover.
It definitely is not the plant I had in mind.

Pleasant Grove, UT(Zone 6a)

It's cute! I can see why Dravencat liked it. I was thinking it looked nasturtium-like, too. Does it flower?

Claire

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

LOL...such a fuss over %$#@*&^^^ dollar weed!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

But Ginger if everyone falls in love with it...they might become *rare* there! I'm really fussing over my air potato vine...it was unhappy here for awhile but it's perking up with the warmer temps we are getting now. :D

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Dollar weed everywhere, did everyone send it to me??
It is reminenscent of a nasturtium leaf but i don't know if they are related. It grows on on white underground runners and boy does it grow. It blooms if not cut or pulled, like in my yard, but they are not pretty in any way. Will have to get a pic of blooms, not flowers just seed looking things. Kinda like unbrella plant. The leaves are normally about 1 1/2 inch across but the ones on steroids are bigger. they can grow under newspaper, that black landscapping stuff and basically anything I have tried. They actually thrive under those!

Here is a website for those of you interested in this stuff! It is pennywort!
