Need some Ideas.....

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

For low growing to mid-size growing (18" tops) perennials that bloom in late summer & fall. That is when my gardens seem to be "done" and this year it will be even earlier, as we seem to be a month ahead on blooming time. I also need something in the smack MIDDLE of my garden, between the lupins, that will fill in space after I cut them back in early summer. I have enough yellow in there, so I need blues, pinks & white.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Coneflowers come in pruple and also in white. Also bee balm is a long bloomer but maybe both would be too tall. How about daisys? Bachelor buttons? Some lilys don't get much taller than that. Fall blooming asters might be good, I have some knock your sox off pruplish blue with yellow centers and they are about the right height. Oops, yellow again. Or what about an annual that reseeds? This might not be much help but I'm trying.
