Whats going on with my Glads?

The scapes start out looking really good and then this. On one I noticed small long thin black bugs but dont know if thats whats doing this or not.

Prolly thrips... I think they are a common pest in glads. Thrips are tough to get rid of because they get inside the buds before they open. Try an incecticide labeled for thrips or maybe a systemic control. The Bayer systemic rose granules are supposed to control thrips.

Thanks Sue, I will definatly try it, sure cant hurt. They are blooming now, taking longer to open up but the blooms look almost normal except for the particular one pictured.
