Ants!!Red,Black and Pink Ants!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yes a pinkish orangish color that looks as you can see right thru them!!
What I would like to know if anybody can tell me whats in those yard accent low voltage lights that the ants love????
Everytime I go to change a bulb,my hands and arms get covered with them before I can change the light bulb!!
And my hose reel as well,I start turnig the handle and they come out like crazy!!!

Ants have been worse for me this year too....big nests of them. Don't know if they are searching out drier diggs because of the monsoons or if it's something else. I know that every time I move something, it seems like millions of them pour out.

This might sound silly. Should I worry about ants? A portion of my flowerbed is over mulched and there appears to be a colony there. What could they do to my garden? Eat the roots? I wasn't going to do anything to them unless they get into the house. Should I get rid of them even now? If so, can I do it without chemcial?

Thanks.

I also have tons of sow bugs this year as well, worst I've ever seen.
Drop,I wouldn't worry about your ants there a gardners friend as Paul James the gardner guy would say!!!!

Good. I didn't want to kill unless I have to.

I see ants as aphid farmers and since I don't want aphids, I have no need for ants. They also bite which is painful to some of us. Really hot water, as close to boiling as possible, is a good organic method of killing out a colony.
