WHAT CAUSES IT AND WHAT TO DO? Our plants get to the end of May, put on lots of buds, and then pfft! Start to wilt and die back. No water problem, could it be a virus? Help my vines , pleeeese!

Firebirds I do not grow these but you may want to post in vines and climbers. Lots of folks there do.

where is your clematis planted? they are supposed to be in a sunny spot, but have their "feet" (bottom part) shaded. I put plants directly in front of mine to do that.

Wish I could help you more, but without knowing the growing conditions of it, it would be hard to tell.
