Oh, wow. Have y'all ever seen the book Tovah Martin did on this lady's lovely garden? Wowsers...what an inspiration for the rest of us! 6' tall foxgloves, tulips to die for, a crab apple tree that is unlike any I've ever seen. Sigh....when I grow up I want to either be Ruth Stout or Tasha Tudor (although I can't paint anything more detailed than walls!!!)
Tasha Tudor's garden...
My Mom has that book and loves it! What I want to know is how can she keep up with a garden like that at her age? Gosh... I can't keep up with mine and I'm supposedly in my prime!... Well maybe a little over prime ;-)
Sue, honey - you're a spring chicken compared to most of us. But I wonder the same thing: Tasha weighs less than 100 pounds, is approaching 90, and keeps up with a 250 ACRE farm! (Granted, the whole thing isn't under cultivation, but there's a lot that is, and then there are her goats and fowl...makes me tired just thinking about it!)
I guess I will have to go looking for this book in the library. I used to love Tasha's stuff in the Victoria magazine. Now that that magazine is defunct I will have to find her stuff other places.
She did the artwork in my Betty Crocker's Kitchen Gardens (a guide to growing and using herbs and vegetables). Her work is so gentle and tender in rendering garden life. and then there's the daybook and the big book "Tasha Tudor's" GARDEN which DD~spin~ gave me. Yeah, I'm a biggg fan.
Thanks for the impulse you gave me, I googled Tasha Tudor and found a site her family runs
it's: tashatudorandfamily.com -- not enuff computor smarts to make it clickable but it's a great site
