I built a large fenced yard area for my dogs. In the front I plant huge confederate jasmine on a trellis. It's been really hot and I've been hand watering. While doing so I notice a bird fly out from the inside. I take a peek and there I see a birds nest with three eggs. See photo.
I live on 18 acres with lots of small oak trees. I'm amazed how many birds nest are in small trees and so low to the ground. With all this land why don't they pick a less populated area? I mean this little bird nested right next to a yard of barking dogs. It makes me wonder if she did this on purpose to protect herself from predators.
I also found one in a tree located inside the pig pen. It branches low.

Birds Nest in Strange Places - photo
Cool! I love finding bird's nests when I can peek in...
We have some magnolias at work. They are quite dense and to tell the truth, planted too close together. Right now, there is a mocking bird nest in one and a robin nest in another. I will try to get pix...
yeah it's cool and i can't wait for them to hatch. I'll take pictures then too.
Are those Robin Eggs?

Sometimes it is bamboozling. I tried to make a couple of bird houses to invite my little birds but I was so diasppointed not a single bird applied for occupation!! :{ Now I have tied a clay pot up the tree and have even written "Welcome, birds". Still no signs of anyting!
Last year when I visited one of my friends' houses, I was surprised to see a lovely cool nest in their mailbox that is tied to the gate that is used very frequently, mostly with a noise!! And it is just above the waist level. When I asked my friend about it, he just said that they seem to be happy there! You never know how and why these birds do such bizzare things.
I don't know that much about birds but I don't think so. She's brown with a small tad of white on the sides. With so many types of birds in south florida I have a hard time remembering them all. I'll look it up tho.
I bought 5 birdhouses on Ebay. Really cute. I also had a few in the trees. I love hanging stuff in my trees. Anyhow, rarely have I seen a birdhouse use one of them. Birdhouses are for human, not birds! lol
It's like fishing lures. The only thing most lure are anglers.

HI all, you sometimes wonder what any animals are thinking when they do things. To us it seems logical, the dogs may scare away predators, but what happens when those eggs hatch and the babies are learning to fly? Our nesters have already done their thing and the juvies have learned to fly. We have had to put baby birds out of our yard to save them from our "Snowy". (That's not easy when it's a Blue Jay, them momma's are mean)
Crims, I don't believe those are Robin's eggs. We don't get nesting robins down here but in Michigan, they were always known to make blue eggs. (Heck Robins don't even come down this far south for winter migration.)
:^)
