Darn it! I was hoping you'd have Leo leo. LOL I don't do anything special to mine. I just plant them and wait.......The hummers love them!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Whats a leo leo??

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

those lion's tails are great, mine have been blooming for a year, thanks to Badseed.....I too would love a leo leo.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Ya'll are going to drive Tropicman nuts! ;)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That is my job! LOL Thinking back, I think these might be from my seed too. My first trade with the Tman. These are Leonotis nepetifolia. Leonotis leonurus has bigger flowers and long skinny leaves. I'm pretty sure both are in the PDB.

Don't worry, they'll shoot to six feet tall in no time, then you'll see the blooms. :) I like mine by the pond in full sun.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have a leo leo (LOL) and it is so much slower growing. I also got the alba this year. I'll save seed if I get them to bloom.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I should have known! LOL Keep me on that seed list please. :)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Badseed your doing a fine ,fine job!!LOL
Yes these seeds were from you!!!
How to I add pic to the plant datsabase?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Boy that's completely diff from mine, wonder if I have lions tail after all. Got it in a trade. a while back.

Kathy leaves look simliar, except mine are wide and yours are narrow,or slender, yours look like the ones I've seen in pictures
Whats up with this Bad seed???LOL!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Kathy, do you have a more clear photo of that plant?

All you have to do to add a pic to the PDB is go to the plant (if it's already there), scroll to the bottom of the entry and click on add a picture (or something close to that). Are you behaving?? LOL

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10b)

In my very humble opinion, I don't think Tropicman's photo is of a Lion's Tail. But it does look like Kathy-Ann's is a Lion's Tail, judging by the thin leaves on her plant. Here in Los Angeles, my Lion's Tail bloomed in the past three weeks. My husband just took these photos today and he is so proud of them, I hope you don't mind if I share them with you. I also just subscribed today, so this is my first post. I planted my Lion's Tail exactly a year ago from a gallon container bought from a local nursery. It really took off! About mid-winter, I cut it back a lot! But it already is big again.

Oops, I thought I could send two photos at once, but I guess you can't. Here is a close-up photo of my Lion's Tail so you can see the leaves better.

That is one cool plant. Wish it was hardy to zone 5. I am trying my first "tropicals" this year. Just easy ones: dwarf canna and ee's.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Wow there growing 3 inches a week,thanks

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Welcome BluesBeans! Nice to meet you. I believe yours are Leonotis leonurus while Tropicman and I have Leonotis nepetifolia. Same family, different plants. You can see both in the PDB.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I guess they are growing, they look rugged though, no flowers yet no signs of any either. I put miracle grow on them when I first got them not sure if I ever did it again

Good thing you are not impatient! LOL They will start getting little funky looking growths like that every few inches up to the top of the stems. That is where your flowers will pop out. :)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

When you get old, things can't happen fast enough!LOL!
Impatience is my other middle name!!LOL!
I'll keep looking for them wierd thingys!!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Old my foot! LOL Stop looking at the plant and it will bloom. :) How do you like this pic??

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning all, Chele, I'm watching the seedling you sent to me and it's doing very nicely so far. I put it in a 6" pot, set it on a covered trellis bench to protect it from harsh sun and rain.

Is he doing okay? normal? What else can I do to increase his chance of survival. I really want to see him grow up.

Thanks,
:^)

In your zone, it should be hardy. Find it a nice location in full sun and stand back. :)
