Electric Mantis

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

I just gotta shout, I LOVE IT!

It's quieter than my vacuum cleaner, has 3 speeds, does whatever the noisy smelly one does and I can start and stop as I please with a touch of the trigger.

I thought the cord would be a big problem, but it hasn't yet. All my areas are within reach and I haven't cut a cord yet, lol. In the last 2 days, I gave it a good workout; dug a pond in stony red clay and made a 20 x 4' bed out of clay with roots.

I love my Mantis :) went thru 2 of the regular ones :(

I want one!!!!

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Yeah, but how many gizillions of dollars is it? And how are the blades holding up?

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Ang, I had my first one for 10 years, the 2nd one for 2 so far (it's waiting to go in the shop). The blades never wore out, the engine did on the first one, and starter/carb problems with the second.

They are great machines. I can't praise them enough. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. They run about $300.00 and worth every penny. Mine is electric too and so easy to pick it up and go.

Violabird: How big a pond did you dig with it. I've been trying to tell my DH, that is the way to dig a pond.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

I would love to own one but just dont have the space needed to talk DH into the expense. So when I go rent one wich would you recommend. I definatly have enough heavy duty extension cord if I rent the electric.

Deb, my pond is a preform (Home Depot Special) 8' x 5', 220 gal. It would have taken me days to dig the clay by hand, the tiller will drag out dirt to the sides and dig deep to loosen the bottom to be shoveled out.

Violabird: that is exactly what I've been telling my DH. I knew the Mantis could do it. He just doesn't want an inground pond, because of all the critters that would visit it and create havoc. We live in the country and just too many raccoons and other critters. So we have a 350 gallon stock tank and a preformed that sits on the ground, he built a frame around it. So for now at least I have them. You will love your new pond.
