National Home Gardening Club?

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

I recently got an invitation to join this club and wanted some feedback before I decide one way or another.

If I accept I will get to field-test gardening products and keep them for free. They've already sent two packs of seeds and one pack of fertilizer. The cost is $12 for a year and I'll get pruning shears and a public garden directory upon joining.

What bothers me is that it said from time to time they'll send me gardening books that I can buy or return. I do not want to be getting books every month, so I guess I'm asking, is this a good type of thing to join, or is it a waste of time and money?

Thanks so much,
Carmen

im a lifemember there!
I have only tested seeds and shake and feed.

Its worth your 12.00 no doubt! :)

I joined recently. I have received 2 magazines, some free seeds and just got a book to review. I can buy it for $9 or send it back postage paid. I was supposed to be testing clippers and then keep them, but they sent me a trowel to test. Not sure if I'll buy the book and not sure how often they send them. So I'm just letting you know what I have experienced so far. I guess I'm neutral at this point.

Wow...I was a member for a year but never got anything to test. :>(

So how is the trowel? Good quality? I wouldn't mind testing anything they send this way.

I'm a Lifer at NHGC. Nice site, friendly folks. The tools are excellent. The gloves are wonderful - they last forever. As for receiving items to purchase - all you have to do is let them know you don't want to buy anything. Then they won't send trials to you. Product testing is interesting and easy. And you get to keep whatever you test. You also get a magazine. I think it is well worth the membership fee too.

Thanks, folks. I've decided to try it and see. I just love this website!

I've been a member for a few yrs now. All the tools I have used {so far} are excellent!
They have a great website, too!

Pins, I am a member and I gave my sis a membership. The book is nice, for $9.00, but the next one they send will cost a lot more than that. I had to tell them not to send any more books.

I have tested a pair of pruning shears and some parks tomato seeds and they have sent me a gardening apron. I haven't spent too much time on the forums over there because I found Dave's.

Their magazine is informative
