A gardening book makes a great Mother's Day gift!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Mother's Day is this Sunday, and whether your mom is the gardener in the family, or you're the gardening mom, remember the Garden Bookworm for gift ideas. There are more than 1,300 gardening books, organized by dozens of categories - there's a book for every gardener's bookshelf, and the Bookworm makes it easy to find the right one!

I'm hoping for a pond liner!!!

Sheila, that sounds like a true gardener's idea of a great Mother's Day gift! (I've been known to ask for a load of compost or mulch, lolol!!!)

Some of my favorite Mother's Day gifts were things like a wheelbarrow and a triangle shaped hoe that gets between the plants better than the regular kind. This year for Valentines Day I got a wonderful gardening book.

Now see, Im not the only one who thinks that. Ive told my family to just get me a gift card to a book store, take me to the book store and let me run wild for a couple of hours and I would be happy as a lark and maybe about 10 pounds lighter after all that running(have you seen the size of book stores lately?) Oh and they have to give me money for the Starbucks thats in the store too. I need energy for all that running.

My best present for Mother's Day would be 7 holes! I can't dig, and I have 7 beautiful Azaleas I want to set out under the Oak Tree. If I ask for that I'm sure they would think I was certifiable! (LOL)

PS: and they may be right!

Now see, if I were there, Id do it. Im a sucker for helping someone out when I can, rooting for the underdog and shakily moving spiders out of my house folded up gently in a paper towel(hate spiders, blech) My DH told me once "Janet, you cant save the whole world, I know you want to, but ya just cant." Im still trying to prove him wrong and he still backs me up.
I found a duckling in the middle of a busy street the other day, stopped in front of him, put on my flashers and went out and picked him up. I musta stood there for 5 minutes with him peeping trying to hear his momma. Needless to say her went everywhere with me that day, to the bank, mva, auto shop, took a break and let him chill out in a cup of water, and finaly took him to the wildlife center with about 5 lbs of duck feed. I wanted to keep him but figured he'd be better off learning to be a duck than my baby. Things like this are an almost everyday occurance with me. Cant help it.

Now see, Janet, you are a better person than I am. You thought of the baby Duck's welfare rather than what you wanted. They would have to chase me down, jump up and down on me to make me give up that baby! (LOL)

Well Pati, it wasnt easy. This well traveled duckling was with me for so long(most of the day) because I was fighting with myself on wether to keep him or not(hence the 5 lbs of duck food). Plus the folks at mva kinda frowned on me bringing in an animal that was peeping all over and I was NOT going to leave him in the car. So after fighting my consience(sp?) for most of the day thats how he ended up at the wildlife center. Shoot I even figured out wich of my big bowls was going to be his swimming pool till I could go get one of the wading pools. LOL

Edited to say Sorry Terry, wasnt trying to take over and YES a gardening book would make a great Mother's Day gift.
