This is in my "shade garden." I thought it was red flowers, but knew I had not planted any there.

Nope, it is one of the "pod-people" from outer space, who had too much fast food!!! What a strange one.
I had one of those last year. Total surprise to me. Mine was shaped differently, but, Boy, was it a stinkhorn!!! When totally open, it attracted swarms of flies (I would go too if I were one) and they seemed to "eat" the plant. The next day it had no more of the slimy part and disappeared, drying out wihtin a few more days.
There's a fungus among us! That's a really cool one! I once had a slimy orange one which resembled something I daren't mention.
