I had a tarp on the ground with a big pile of pine needles on it. I just got around to taking care of it today. Look what those darn moles did!
Moles!
HOLEY MOLEY. LOL Sorry just had to do that. I have never seen mole damage like that. In my yard I just see a rise in the dirt from the tunnel and then stomp it back down. They dont like it when I do that, I dont know why heehee. I think I would be afraid to stomp on that, Id be afraid to sink past my knees.
Holey moley is right. Conditions under that tarp must have been mole heaven. You won't have to till it lol.
I'd bet my bottom dollar that you HAD tons of grubs and earth worms under that mat all winter until the moles found them. As a rule of thumb, if you have moles, you have a grub worm problem. That's from my experience and what my lawn care helper's tell me. As soon as I put down Japaneese milky spores and Beneficial nematodes to kill off the grubs, the moles haven't been seen since. Before I found out it was grub worm problem,I used commercial HVAC smoke bombs they use to see if they have any holes in duct work for air conditioner's in large buildings. The moles were hiding under a small cement pad by the back porch so I couldn't dig at them. The smoke chased out 4 snakes, a few mice that couldn'tget out of there fast enough. The moles were too dumb to run so they must of died. LOL
Let me know if you want eco friendly mole/grub control.
www.planetnatural.com has tons of beneficial insects for every pest you can imagine, no chemicals involved.

Moles are terretorial, If you put urine in the holes, they figure the territory belongs to you and they will leave, either go in a jar then pour it in the hole or get male to go around at night and go in holes. strange but 100% effective
