Yet another request...

poppysue, do you think that might happen anytime soon?

My impression is that it might happen at a time in the future, but not anytime soon.

I hate double work.

mystic, I'm not trying to make you work, just giving you the tools so you can get as much done as easily as possible. =)

How about if I put the hybridizer and the year in the same column? would that make things easier?

Cheri that might work, I really try not to add the hydridizer and year until most of the blocks have been filled in . That's just my way of knowing the ones I need to do something to. I am also starting a list of ones I can't find the hybridizer and or year for. I am going to post them later. I am hoping somebody has the info. Thank you for all the help.

Alrighty then, I'll set it up and send you the file. It'll be a large file . . . maybe I should upload it and you can download it.

Okay, I should probably just LIVE in shin guards for when Dave kicks me under the table, but....

I'd go ahead and add the hybridizer and year parenthetically as Mystic has been doing. If and when we get separate text boxes for it, I'm hoping (here's where the shin guards come in handy) that Dave can tell the system to strip out the parenthetical information from the cultivar field and parse it into separate, respective fields. I know it's do-able in a spreadsheet, so I'm hopeful it wouldn't be too difficult for him to do within the PDB.

And if he makes the decision to not create separate fields for the hybridizer and year, we'll be that much further (farther?) ahead....

Gosh, Terry...you're turning into a night owl like the rest of us!!

Well, if any of you editors wants the first 12,000 hybridizers and years, you can download an Excel file here
http://www.curiouser.com/cheri/hybridizers.xls

It's a huge file, 1 MB, so be prepared . . .

I'll have the next 12,000 uploaded soon

Is the datafile you're using, Cheri, the same as the PDB? I'm wondering if they are different could there be cultivars in your file that aren't in the PDB thereby causing an extra step later to bounce it against the PDB before a mass upload? (assuming as Terry said that Dave might be able to parse the data for the futuristic hybridizer/year fields).

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

I haven't run across one in this db that isn't in the PDB yet. If you come across one, go ahead and key it in. If you don't want the whole hybridizer file, just let me know which one, and I'll send it to you.

Or shall I send you the I's? (tomorrow, I'm crashing.)

Cheri--you already sent me the hybridizer file. And the link you sent me works fine....I use Firefox not IE so it works with that. And it is a BIG file!! Thank goodness for cable modem. Night!
