anahi, it looks to pink to me to be Coral Sunrise. When did you get the bulb?

Here is one of my favorite lilies: Amarillo an outfacing asiatic

anahi, could it possibly be Dress Rehearsal?

Here is a bright and bold combination 'Yellow Elf' with 'Stella d Oro' beside and 'Stones' behind.

chrissy, lovely flowers! Would you believe I don't have Staregazer! I think I must work on that.

Here is a trumpet lily that was supposed to be 'Pink Perfection' I think it is actually 'Regale album' None the less she is still a blooming beauty!

llilyfan, I got the bulb from the irls last fall. I used a wooden stake with black perma marker. Obviously I won't be doing that again! The darn thing rotted on me and broke off.... LOL!
Sure wish I would have ordered more of the metal markers from irls..I'm out of them already.

llilyfan, did you get your "Pink Perfection" from the irls? They are beautiful! Your lilies are WAY ahead of mine! One lily that is on my list of must haves this year is Tinos. Langbr posted a picture of it and it's a bute!

I love this thread! Everyone has such beautiful lilies!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Did I plant this? I sure don't remember it and don't have anything in my planting notebook, so I must have forgotten to write it down. It's new this year so I probably put it in this past Fall. Anyone know what it's name might be?

llilyfan - do you think it could be Coral Sunrise? I sure don't remember planting this at all! They are in the middle of my Daylily bed of all things!!

This was in a Trumpet Mix I bought last year, really looks like an Orienpet to me!

Puddle...that first one looks a bit like 'Shocking' but a deeper yellow on yours.

puddle,
i believe it is shocking too. and yes it is an orienpet. i just got mine this year from eflowergardens.com i'm looking forward to the blooms.

anahi,
i like the combination f flowers that you used. also, have you tried paint markers? i use one called a decomarker. they are far superior to a permanent marker. i find black is best, although i tried purple and pink and even thugh they faded to white, you can read the white on the white plant label... :-D

this is a site to check out just to show you the one i use and the stats on it

Debi - your link has an error in it, but I copied and pasted and then took off the "ti" in front of the http portion.

Granite City, IL

I thought it was "shocking" also, I just planted 25 of those about a month ago, they are all budded up, I am going to compare when those bloom.

langbr,

I wish I could be of more help. There are so many lilies out there that are sold as collections and mixed bags and most of them are un-named, but beautiful none the less. The blended ones are so pretty. There are several named lilies with coral in the name, Coral Reef, Coral Sunrise, and Coral Sunset that I am aware of. My knowledge is quite limited however and I am nowhere near intelligent about these flowers that have captured my love. (I do intend to change that) Is this lily upfacing or outfacing? That along with the height can help narrow it down.

anahi,
saw your lily at the show and I still don't know which one it might be, I'll keep checking!

Hey everyone, anahi took some stems to the Iowa Lily Show and got Blue Ribbons! Way to go Bev!!!!!!!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Much congrats, Bev! That's really cool!

Here's a couple of my favourites...Samantha and Marco Polo -just to show you how TALL it is this year!!! Is it going to keep getting taller every year? and for how many years? This one is now 5 or 6 years old.

It's definitely an Asiatic Llilyfan....upward facing at end of stem and just a stab at height I would say 3 feet. I'll just enjoy it as it is without a name. Sure wish I remembered planting it!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

lol brenda, i can relate to not remembering planting things. but it is a wonderful surprise to see them there and then to await what they are going to look like. a plant marker can tell me the name, but it can't tell me what it looks like. :-D

Last weekend was the IRLS Lily show....and look who brought home the best of show blue ribbon! Congratulations llilyfan!!!!! Now THAT'S something to crow about!! Great growing llilyfan!

Regale Trumpet Lily. Strong fragrance.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post, but I got trojaned Wed morning and just got my computer back up and running.

Thanks all, but (and I hate to do this) I did not win Best in Show. I did win Best Iowa Grown Outfacing in show. I just hate making corrections, but I don't want to take the glory or satisfaction from the true winner. Mrs. Dennis won the Best in Show with a wonderful lily called Aladdin's Sun. I was totally awed to even get a blue ribbon much less one of the major awawrds! Thanks for the congrats everyone.

chrissy: i'll try to check and see. If you planted named lilies, the names can usually be 'triggered', however if they came as a mix they might never have been named lilies. chrissy, does that last one have a fragrance?

sue_wa: is that lily a peach or a pink? It is lovely and i love the way the sunlight highlights the petals.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

congratulations on your Best Iowa Grown Outfacing in show. you must have been so happy and proud. you go girl!.

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

It is pink. I have another 'surprise' it looks exactly like the pink one above but taller. I'm completely scratching my head.

And I just love them!

And.......still congrats on your award!! It's great!!

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

Oopps, sorry for the mistake llilyfan! I guess to me it WAS the best of show. LOL it was alot of fun and seeing all the different lillies was a treat in itself! It's a good way to start a new list for fall planting! LOL ( : Bev : )

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

sue_wa: I love surprises, send some of them gremlins to my yard!

Thanks for all the congrats, yes, I was straining the buttons on my shirt!

anahi: Thanks for the vote of 'Best', but you too did super with some blue ribbons at your first show also. Outfacing is one of the smaller divisions!

My trumpets are starting! Here is 'African Queen"

Debi on your trumpet, maybe the white Regale? Just a guess. And I'm curious, what does L.A. mean when you describe them???

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

A colorful and relatively new addition to the Lily family is the LA Hybrid category. LA Hybrid gets its name from is cross parentage between longiflorum lilies (the Easter Lily) and Asiatic hybrids. The result are new, vibrantly colorful trumpet lilies. These lilies have only been available for about 10 years. They are strong and have a good vase-life. With larger than average flowers, LA Hybrids gain their trumpet style from Longiflorum and their brilliant array of colors from Asiatic.
Lilium longiflorum-asiatic hybrids
In the 1970s, the breeders at Sun Valley Bulb Farms in California produced a new type of lily by crossing Lilium longiflorum (trumpet lilies, such as the Easter lily) and Asiatic hybrid lilies. These L.A. (longiflorum-asiatic) hybrids are reputed to be exceptionally vigorous and disease-resistant.

Thanks TLC, very interesting. I'm guessing Regale is one of the old timey ones then? I am really becoming interested in these. Actually all of the different lilies. Majoenese....formosanum...gosh so many. And all so beautiful.

Banning, CA(Zone 9b)
