PDB browse feature - help beta test!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

On the homepage, beneath the welcome message, there's a "Find your plant" with textbox

Beneath that is a "Browse popular cultivars" with a pulldown list - that's the one you're looking for.

Thanks! I got it now :o]

Dave, can we possibly get the Hibiscus included in the "browse" feature? We're starting to pick up more images of Hibiscus varieties, and we're getting a lot of duplicate entries - I think because a lot of users are put off by the 7,800 results they get when they search for Hibiscus....

No problem. It can be setup via the admin menu, Terry. Click on "Limits" and add the genera/species and once that's done, click on Sections and add the Hibiscus and check off the genera/species that you added, and it'll then appear in the finder pulldown.

Can we add Lilium to the browse feature?? Looks like there's 129 entries under Lilium....does if qualify for elevated status??? Pretty Please!!!!

Brenda, I'll be happy to set it up, with two conditions:

1) If some of the Lily lovers will go through the "standard" PDB entry checkboxes, compared to say the Hemerocallis or Rose entry and help me identify any Lilium-specific checkboxes and/or sections that should be added...and

2) If y'all think it will stimulate a surge in interest (new entries, comments and images) in Lilies in the PDB ;o)

Terry-

So as an example of #1 do you mean we could add a Class category for Asiatic, Oriental, Trumpet, Orienpet, LA, Aurelian, etc?

Let me stir the Lily forum posters and see what type of response I get.

Yeppers.

Yes, yes, yes to the lilies! I plan to get alot more and need the info for them :)

I'll help as much as I can. I assume doing the check boxes from the good lily sites will be sufficient?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Violabird, yes that is helpful - I usually pull up at least a couple trusted sites or books to verify their information is the same (or very similar) to one another...

However, what I was referring to is that Lilies may have some unique characteristics; if there is a registration form for new Lily cultivars, it probably will give us the guidance we need to review our existing "standard" plant entry form and make appropriate changes for a form that would be used only for Liliums.

Terry - can you come visit this thread in the Lilium forum and give your thoughts/input?
