Have a look at these Maple leaves please

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

This is a Acer Rubrum Florida Flame and I was so tickled when it broke dormancy! It's leaves have been lovely until I noticed several deformed new leaves. What could be causing this? I have yet to fertilize it as I just transplanted it a week ago. There are no signs of bugs. Help please!

Looks like something's been chewing on it just as it was forming.

Maple trees seem to be wild here. Never heard of having to fertilize them. One of my biggest battles in the garden is pulling out all the maple seedlings - they never seem to quit sprouting. Big nuisance!

karrie20x, i too HATE maple seeds. they fall by the 10's of thousands in my yard. ugh! i have to clean them up because they cover the garden beds and start to sprout. worse than weeds to me. i can't even plant anything without having to remove them, or they go under the soil and you know there will be a very strong maple tree growing there in no time flat. thank goodness all maple trees don't germinate like these.
