Monarda 'Aquarius' - anybody tried it?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ahhh, I'm such a pushover when it comes to springtime and nursery plants. I tell myself: Just a quick trip through the garden center to see what's new. I'm not going to buy anything, I'm JUST LOOKING. Yeah, right.

Anyhoo, I wound up with a pot of this (and a dozen or so pots of other stuff - now how'd that happen????) after a jaunt through a local nursery today. One website says it's mildew resistant, which is a good thing considering my Monarda usually succumbs just about the time the blooms are peaking.

In other news, I also snagged some variegated double impatiens (the new "Ice" series - mine are pink) from another nursery (one *should* support the local economy, right???) And they're VERY purty - now to baby them until I can set them out. Just a few more days till last frost date - woohoo! ;o)

I'm not tellin' what else *might* have followed me home. Sigh. I used to buy clothes and hide them in the closet for a few weeks so I could - with a clear conscience - respond to questioning with a wide-eyed innocent "This??? Noooo, it's not new - I've had it a while...."

Now I try the same thing with plants, lololol....

Oh Terry you sound so normal. Just good and hooked to wonder of all kinds of plants. Just last week, I found a Helenium plant and a more hardy agapanthus. Just had to come home to my garden. Yes, indeedy, we are supporting the local economies.
By the way what color is this particular Monarda? I like them but never very successful with them and I think they are in the same family as mint which can almost get invasive. But not me anyhoo.

Terry, I understand that the monarda 'Jacob Cline' is the most mildew-resistant (red) monarda.

Let us know how this one turns out.

I love monardas :o) If I had the space I'd have a whole garden full of the different colors. No such luck tho. I'll be waiting for your pictures!

What color is the aquarius? It's strange how those nursery plants just seem to leap into your arms and beg to be taken home and liberated from their pots.

It's one of the pink/mauve ones. Here's an image: http://pages.americannurseryproducts.com/7658/PictPage/1921657304.html
