Boy, Oh Boy, Dave! I was so excited but when I read "This is a crushing blow to all our competitors", I was confused 'cause we all know that you have no competitors and this seemed out of character. Then I started reading how excited everyone else was and got swept away with the crowd. Seems like no one was quite sure :D

When I first read this thread, I thought, "Yes, if you can't beat 'em, EAT 'EM" Dave has beaten Garden Web a thousand times over. Yeah, you had me goin'.

I logged on to DG this morning and combed the site for any new "press releases"...It's such a treat April 1 each year. I actually felt like a kid at Christmas. ;)

As a member for over a year I have mostly lurked because I did not want to say something wrong or something that would offend someone. Among a group of friends this kind of statement would be very funny. But as a thread - a public statement for thousands to read - I don’t think it is very funny. If I had condemned another person with this kind of statement I would have started an uproar!! What happened to the spirit of peace and love? Did it just fly out the door for a brutal April Fools joke?

I thot it was a hoot! Had me going!

One of the best April Fool's jokes I've ever been party to. Trish, that is some mind you have there! As Shoe says "you're da man Dave but hey I think Trish is da woman!!!"

This is my first year as a subscriber so I had NO idea about the April Fool's tradition. Boy, am I glad I didn't miss this, it is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!1

Dave, I had forgotten about your april fools jokes, and as I was reading this I was amazed and very happy for you! what a dissapointment when it came out not to be true. But what a great joke you played on us....

Personally, taking over Gardenweb would be wonderful in my view. About 3 weeks ago I posted multiple posts about FREE garden tours in So. California and was sent to Disneyland. I emailed Spike 4 times to ask him for his help in getting back on the forums since I had not done anything wrong...afterall the forums are for information sharing. Spike would not answer my emails. When I had a friend who is a member of Gardenweb email Spike he emailed her back and told her to stay out of it. I have seen first hand evidence of emails sent to my friends from Spike that were nasty and sarcastic over some perceived infraction that they had committed that resulted in them being sent to Disneyland. Spike is not a nice man, pure and simple. I love it here and intend to stay. But Dave, should you choose to send me some place, I happen to really love Tahiti. Love Dave's Garden!

Well. I'll be goldarned! I had completely forgotten about April Fool's (at 82 one forgets a lot). Also, I didn't know about the joke each year so I sat here reading it with my mouth hanging open.

Pretty good, hope I don't fall for next year's joke, probably will though.

Well, I only saw this on the 13th of April, so I was REALLY not thinking April's Fool's day anymore!!! Good one!

And, as Garden Watchdog DID devour that other (plantfaq's by mail?) site, it seems like a logical next step.

Boy, I wish you would buy them. I saw a post from someone who wanted lilies and tried to send a private email to her (through the site) about the lily co-op here. Guess what popped up, but a screen telling me that they don't allow spam and if I do it again I'll be banished. Sheesh!

Well here it is April 16 & it is still working. I just saw it & didn't even think April fool till someone else ruined it for me *LOL* Too bad it isn't true.
Greenwood said GW was the best thing that happened to DG..because so many unhappy gardeners leave GW & come to DG.
A very clever Joke on us.

Our local bi-weekly newspaper pulled one on us that horrified me. We have a small town and the largest building is the 3-story courthouse. The paper announced that a bank was putting corporate headquarters here and going to build a 50-story building downtown, tearing down a whole block of our historic district that I worked so hard to get on the National Register of Historic Places. I was reading this at work and didn't have time to find that it was revealed to be an April Fool's joke an the end of the article. Can I sue the publisher for my heart attack?

I'm as late as 20 days but I enjoyed the constructed sentences! They are really beautiful. That's all I can say now. Next year on Apr.1, we will simply read Dave's post (regarding such things) and wait for a couple of days before we pass a comment or form an opinion !! ;~}
