I need a name soon :)

My new little boy is Mork. Then of course the name Mindy fit right in. Mork came about because my daughter who gave them to us was calling him Dork since he is slower than his sister (Mindy) My little boy is no Dork. Mama cat adopted my daughter & she will no longer become a mama. These kittens was just one litter of kittens she had had in her short life. All 3 (momma & my 2 kittens) have been spayed & neutered now.
I was concerned about them when we go to Alaska traveling for the summer but have a good pet setter right next door. She has taken good care of the dogs when we leave but we have never been gone so long. I know all 6 (3 cats & 3 dogs) will be fine.

Awww how cute! Love the name too.

I didn't realize that this color cat was refered to as tortoiseshell?? If that is the case, we use to have 2 cats that looked very simular to it. We named them both Tiger :)

I took Cleo to the vet for her checkup today. She weighs 9.6 lbs. I was surprised, thought she was lighter than that. She is considered a DSH (Domestic Short Hair) and is called a Multi-Tortoiseshell. Also known as a multi-calico. Most have more of an orangey coloring to them, but Cleo has hues of blue, which I thought. She is very, very healthy and presently happy. I have learned something new...

We had a Cleo when I was young. She came to us in a unique way.

It started out with a Siamese we adopted named Jacques. We were told 'he' was about a year old...we never checked the sex for about 6 weeks...then discovered that Jacques needed to be renamed Jacqueline. She had 3 kittens. They were outside in a small pet house on the back porch. This was the 70's and all pets were 'outside pets' in our rural area.

A tom got in the house one night and killed the kittens. Jacqueline was devistated...they were less than a week old. She searched and cried for hours. We were all in tears. I finally remembered that a lady I worked with had a new litter of kittens and called her and asked If we could try and console Jacqueline with an 'adopted' kitten. We had no idea if this ruse would work, but were willing to try anything.

I went and got the little kitty...who was also about a week old and Mama Jacqueline was overjoyed. Thus, Cleo came to live with us as the adopted daughter of our Siamese.

Incidently, Cleo was also A tortoise-shell, although of the brighter coloration.

Kindred spirits we are Mel :) Sad but great story. K

Melody...that is a touching story. My neice had a wee Dashchund that was in heat and a very large dog got with her...she had to be aborted and spayed....later at Easter time a baby duck was given to my neice. That dog kept tying to get that duckling to nurse....she would carry it around like a puppy (or try to)...she thought she had birthed it. Sad. Jo
