Spring Has Sprung!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

YeeeeeeeeHawwwwwwwww......temps in the 60's here and with all our recent preciptiation, all the trees are budding out, my magnolia, and rose of sharon......daffodils, tulips, ready to bloom........irises and daylilies shoving up through the ground.
Lovely rudbeckia, shasta daisy, clover, achillia, verbena, all bursting forth with new life. Rose bushes begging the sun and showers for more.......they're ready to set bud. And the birds are coming back home to roost by the hundreds!! Yes sir, I'm ready!!! What's going on with your garden? Time to take off the winter coat and see the new spring dress.

Here in Chicago too...there are red buds on most of the early trees and shrubs, my lilacs are showing green buds! I look at the garden daily....ground thawed in my yard to two feet! Most of last years plants look great!

I have bnever seen an early spring like this....we go from cold to hot up here....

Yippeee!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

well well how nice! :)
The snow is melting here 41degrees-rainy all day today! There is a hint of spring in the air!

I am happy that spring is starting to get here!

No tar today!! LOL

Stockton, MO(Zone 6b)

Sun is shining, wind is blowing, yellow crocus up under the pear trees. Temps in the mid 50's, the earth spongy under my feet. Yep, feels like spring!
The critters think so too. Goats playing and leaping, the birds singing, Canada geese flying low to land on the ponds for the night.
I'm sure ready!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

The snow is melting more every day, a few bulbs are comming up and a few birds comming back that we haven't seen in months. Mostly the landscape just looks white, but that will change in the next few weeks.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Did Puxatawnie (sp?) Phil see his shadow? I totally missed Groundhog Day!! Spring is here in Kansas too....by mid-March I'll have the spring bulbs in full roar from the fall coops!!! I'm still needing to get some bed cleaned out!!! Best hope for good weather on the next couple of weekends.

Downside......remembering that I have the prairie winds and thunderstorms to combat for the first month of Spring before the relaxed, refreshing, rejuvenating spring days are truly here!!!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

These bloom about 6 weeks before everything else....

Yes, I believe the groundhog saw his shadow, again! He probably wasn't impressed and just went back to sleep for the next 6 weeks. Woodspirit1 or anybody, can you tell me what those bright flowers are? Crocus? Some kind of tiny early iris? Something else?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

MaryE--I believe they're Gaillardia if I'm not mistaken.

Picked two daffodils today. Lots of daylilies peeking through. Ground/creeping phlox is blooming as is the veronica that Margaret sent me last year. The most gorgeous blue/purple you've ever seen. I so love spring!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

It's Squill............glory of the snow.

It's in the 80's today! Several Dutch iris are blooming. I've cut the first calla, and there are two more buds. Freesias have been making buds for weeks, still no sign of them opening.

The Azalea is covered in buds, going to start popping any day now, I think. (EARLY this year) And the Gardenia is making tiny buds. My Weigela is sprouting leaves, as is the hydrangea.

Almost all the dormant daylilies have started to pop up, as have most of the irises (some of the irises didn't die back this winter - that can't be good).

Yup, spring is sprung ... =)

I have Crocus! (But it started snowing today). Last week was beautiful and warm. But I knew it was a "false" Spring. I have noticed that some of the trees are starting to bud, so I hope it doesn't get tooooooo cold at night now.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

'80's!!!! Did you say....'80's??!!!!!! Gosh, Cheri rub it in! Lucky you! How bout some pics....I could sure use a bit of green right now.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

73 here today.......but rainy....got to take it while we can get it.

Mine are dwarf crested iris, a/k/a iris reticulata. I have separated them and have another bunch blooming elsewhere in my rock garden...

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

LOL langbr! I was just telling DD how I wish I had a digital camera ... so I could share pics of the Dutch iris.

yup, it was in the 80's today, 81º at noon, I didn't check again after that. It was overcast, but no rain ... great day for digging. =) I even found one hosta peeking up - it's way early for that!

I'm not trying to rub it in, just letting you know Spring is on the way!!! It got here early and it's on it's way to ya'll. (We don't need no stinkin' groundhog ...)

We've got heavy rains today and temps in the 50's for the next couple of days. Biggest problem is a houseful of stomach flu and strep!! Ugh! This week won't be over soon enough.

ooh, Tropicman, nice close-up. Don't you just love them? They are one of my two harbingers of spring. The other one is the peeper frogs (tree frogs) that just started up today....

Thanks for that beautiful photo, dablaw

:) Crocuses do give us hope. My yard's first contribution is a weak looking ice pansy. I hadn't realized they really did bloom when it was this cold.
