I have flax in my garden. It was a gift from my neighbor across the street. I love it! I am fortunate to live in an old neighborhood on a corner with other gardeners. We take care of our places! :)

OK! Let's hear some more people that are seeding already!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm still dancing!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

haha apparently its just you and me karrie :D

Oakland, CA(Zone 9b)

Hmm, will bulbs count? In that case you can include me! Our weather has warmed up a bit (although we will still get lots of cold nights for the next few months) and the rain has stopped this week. It is beautiful although a bit windy. The oxalis pes-caprae (invasive weed that is EVERYWHERE) is starting to bloom which is our first sign of spring. Even people with neglected yards look like gardeners at this time of year; bright green cloverleaf leaves with spikes of bright yellow flowers.

I have three huge pots which held tomatoes last year on our back patio. This year I'm putting the tomatoes closer to the front, and decided to use the pots to hold mixed plantings of caladiums, callas, and lilies. When we sit out there in the lanai it will be very pretty to look at. The patio is shaded by a big leafy maple which rustles nicely in the summer breezes that will come.

Around the end of March I'll be starting some seedlings of basil and tomato. We don't get a lot of heat here in the San Francisco Bay Area; last year I started them too soon and they just languished.

I just planted a bunch of 'Tiny Tot' glads and several dozen crocosmia. There's not much room in my garden beds any longer, but I keep cramming things in! Dropped a couple of hundred dollars at the local nurseries, too, hehehe. A plant addict, that's me! My husband has stopped asking 'Where are you putting all these plants?' He knows I can always find room somewhere!

Looking good! =o) You're all ahead of me. I haven't started anything except for brugs. I have some thunbergia seeds I want to get planted. I spose it's about time I get them started.

Lakeview, MI(Zone 5a)

still to early to start my seeds so I just spent some very enjoyable time viewing all the piks from this past photo contest. They are all winners. I'm snowed in again!

Oakland, CA(Zone 9b)

I'm planting vegies in my greenhouse raised bed but so far no flowers. Take a look over on the greenhouse forum, I posted a picture today.

Iowa City, IA(Zone 5a)

We still have a foot of snow on the ground in Eastern Iowa and it's supposed to get down almost to zero tonight, but the sun is getting warmer, so the exhaust fan went on in our attached greenhouse; it's set at 83 degrees! Kind of neat to sit here looking out at all that snow and hear the exhaust fan go on because it's too hot in the greenhouse.

art-n-garden, yes too much snow and cold weather, it will be zero tonight. I'm about middle of the mitten and our area has been hard hit with snow. please do that rain dance!

Poppysue, I planted SOME of the daylily seeds you sent me a couple of weeks ago. Many of them have germinated and doing very well! The germination has gone so well that I plan to give some to my two "moms" on mothers day as well.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

apparently winter IS getting his revenge. It snowed a good 3 inches over thursday and friday night here. not much to yall- but it brought people pracitcally to a standstill here. but i loved the snow (in those amounts) and now its all gone- back up to 35-40 degrees.
zinnia i asked about the mitten, because i worked with a girl last summer who was from the thumb area of michigan...cant remember exactly the name of the city. something with falls in it maybe??
I hope yall start warming up soon! and yes, the hoodie hoo will be done and my spring dance and pleas...and cries...will continue to be done everyday ;)

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

i have so much started that i can barely get into the gh. it was sunny and in the 60's here today.

Lakeview, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes, continue the dancing, it was -10 here last night. One thing about snow in Tx it doesn't last long . Mi is in zone 5 for the most part, with some zone 4,and in the thumb area some zone 6 . I think they usually get a much earlier spring. Here is a thought that describes me in winter... There are moments in deep winter when folks see me at my work not knowing that I have gone to my garden: to set a row of tomato plants, to marvel at the growth of peas, to inhale the lily-of-the-valley, to ponder where the next planting of beans will go or the next flower. The garden of my mind is always warm with sunshine, morning glories tangle; ideas sprout, and I go there often when the snow is deep.( I read a version of this somewhere :) Happy gardning. Zen

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

oo i like that. i feel that way too. like i just found a secret peace after i leave my garden, that no one else knows about.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Davesgarden is where I garden all year if I am not looking at seed catalogs or photos of my garden from last summer. Our winter is getting very long here, today it has snowed all day with wind making some drifts about 2 ft high. We already had about 18 inches left, so it will be a while before the ground reappears. Come on spring!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Mary, you sure got alot of snow! We rarely get that kind of snow up here! Most of ours is gone now - it rained fairly heavily yesterday. All we have left are the big mounds of it, left from shoveling. We are sure happy that we are starting the trend towards warmer weather now! (slow trend, but much better than "brrrrrrrrr")

Lakeview, MI(Zone 5a)

I wonder if dave knows how we depend on this site to help get us through the long winters.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I think he knows! This is such a wonderful place!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

The lemon basil and sweet basil I sowed indoors on Saturday came up today!!!!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Rutger & Abe Lincoln seeds came up today!!!! Thanks Shoeflower!
