Where do you buy them? How large are the containers they come in? How much do they cost? I found a 1 pound jar of them for $10.97. It said use a tablespoon per 4 or 5 quarts of potting soil and would be enough for 100 sq ft of ground. Does it come in different size particles? I think it must be available in larger more economical sizes. This was called Agrosoak or something similiar.
Polymer crystals
Mary, I usually buy it from my local nursery or Walmarts. That's the price I usually pay. Where are you planning on using it? There have been a few threads on the polymer crystals - here's one.

Thanks, I'll go look. It seems that somebody would be putting this stuff in larger containers to make it easier to afford. Yes, I was planning on using some to stretch watering intervals, maybe make the difference between plants surviving or not if they can't be watered when I am gone 3 days at a time. Anybody else?
My hort supplier sells it in 55lb sacks.
Of course someone would have to get a current quote, but I'm certain some nurserymen here could get ahold of them.
I imagine, if they're in such large sacks they wouldn't be terribly pricey.
I don't use the stuff myself, otherwise I'd offer to do some sorta co-op with it.

The best price that I've found is at the bottom of that thread listed above by elsie. I ordered 5 lbs of the medium size and some of the powder too. Big mistake getting the powder. I thought I could use it on roots for shipping, but I don't ship that much and will never in my lifetime use it all. Live and learn I guess. Almost forgot....I used a lot of it the first year I had it and still have about half of it left. It goes a long ways.
