tiG, I have that resize hesitation, too.
Server is moving!!!
Much slower here. Last night there were several threads on the Brug forum that I was unable to access...
Dave: I was trying to do status updates to my Journal, and it stopped reponding. I exited and came back in, as I could not get here any other way. Have not been back to the journal yet...
Dave, I've had to exit and reboot 2-3 times this morning also. I've even switched back to using IE instead of Safari, same results.
Slow here also.
Paul
Very erratic connection to DG&PDB. Often connection times out. No problems at 4AM eastern though LOL.
Server troubles... at this point I'm wondering if this server is going to be able to handle the load that DG puts on it.
I'll try to type slower,LOL!
I had probs getting in this AM,but it really seems to be flying now!
I'm working on tweaking the settings in MySQL to hopefully make it use less RAM. This server has only half a gig of memory onboard.
This morning it had some heavy SQL traffic and it finally went into swap and it was downhill from there. I need to try to avoid that.
dave
DG site was down from 8-9 Pac. time.
Cruising like a Cadillac-yak-yak-yak-yak now! (Forgive me Billy Joel)
Ditto. For some reason loading is quicker from forums list than from my home page list.
Dave, this seems to be really causing you some intermittent problems. Hope you get it (re)solved soon.
We all love'ya here anyway!
Trouble getting on then when I do trouble getting to home page. Ernie
ps and once there it is slow slow and slower

I've gotten this message twice in the last few mins.
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Too many connections in /www/garden/inc/common/db_mysql.inc on line 77
Database error: connect(localhost, root, $Password) failed.
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted.
Yardbird,
I got that message a few minutes ago when I logged on but it went away and still took me to the main page.
I was working on it for the past hour and a half. I'm stopping now so there shouldn't be any more errors.
dave
for some reason, it is still slow switching from one forum to the next.
i was worried it could be my computer. i scanned, disk cleanup , defrag and reboot. no changes! i do not have any problem accessing other sites. just to let u know status on my end.
thanks Dave :).
edited to correct errors

Some forums for me are opening "slower than molasses in winter" Dave, but bearing with you while all the glitches are taken care of.
It's goofy for me. It either logs right in and I zip through OR it takes awhile to get on and nothing moves very fast if it goes at all. Very rarely, I get on and it gets slower and slower. I don't know if that info helps you or not?
Still very slow both signing on and switching to read threads/Ernie
just took about twenty seconds to show preview of the above

Having the same difficulties as mentioned above. Not worrying about it since I know that Dave is "tweaking" the system!
Mines running fast as a hog chewing corn!
Greased lightning here!
Edited to say that I spoke too soon; it just slowed to a crawl. And this is DSL, no less!

Ulrich lets trade .Should I shut down and start over?
Dave , slow here, going from thread to thread.
It's slow here again, too. It's just off and on, though. For a few minutes the threads load okay, but then it bogs down and is slow, or occasionally even times out on a page.
Dave, for me it is faster than before. May be that the signal goes through less servers now.
There is a program, Neotrace, that you can download and allows you to find out how many server your connection goes through.
It is quite clever to follow your message

The forum is slower for me with the new server, but it's intermittent. About 50% it runs as quickly as it did before. Right now, it's crawling at a snails pace :(.
Slow going from one forum to another at 8:01 PM Central.
Using High Speed Cable.
Oops, just took about 45 seconds to preview this message.
Shuting down and restarting showed no improvement. Slow to get on then it timed out trying to pull up the thread.
Is everone else's problem with DG solved. Not mine. Last night I got either "connection refused when trying to access Dave's Garden" or "connection timed out when trying to access Dave's Garden". This new server is just very slow on my computer and I have high speed cable connection.
no, mine is still not working very well. Sometimes I can't open DG and sometimes I can't get into a forum or the PDB and every thread is very slow opening compared to 'click, it's there' that I had before.
Folks, I am aware of the problems with the new server. You don't need to report the problems anymore. This is all I've been working on for the past week. The problems will continue until I have it fixed, and when that happens, I will post it.
dave
Sorry, Dave - we weren't griping, just trying to help.
ditto!!
Yep - not a problem. My updates are getting more and more terse. :)
Well there is just one more problem.......gotcha! lol
I do hope that gets a little laugh from ya. I know right about now you feel like ringing my neck BUT!!!! just know it was done in fun and to give you a little break :} I blame it on cabin fever.
I haven't been around enough to notice, but I can't get into chat tonight......not moaning or complaining, just maybe it has something to do with that....anyway I got too much to do and not enough time as it is.
