I was delighted when I learned that bergenia is sometimes called 'Pig Squeak'!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I used to get a big kick out of Ceanothus spinosus, since it rhymes.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

I like geranium Pelargonium. We are such dorks. lol :) Ooo! Ooo! and anemone (also sometimes said 'anemonemonemone') *giggle*

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

The way Phlox is spelled has always tickled me for some reason.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

All the common plant names that end in Wort give me a giggle.

Kenbridge, VA(Zone 7b)

This will be the only time anybody will hear me admit this...if it weren't for the latin names I'd get my seed orders so mixed up!

For some reason, I can never get butterfly weed and butterfly bush seperated in my mind. I always have to look them both up.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

It really gets confusing when you try to use common names as a reference when talking to people outside the U.S. It seems to me, as I recall, Sweet William is not necessarily a biennial dianthus in the UK. The botanical names, as confusing as they can be, are a big help in definitive plant identification.

Tottori, Japan(Zone 9a)

I like a Japanese common names. They describe the plant's looks very well and they are beautiful words! But, if people all over the world called a plant's name their own sweet way, we'll get into trouble. So,I'm concerned to look up a latin name of all my plants. I have trouble remembering it though....*sigh* I agree with breezynosacek. I can't order seeds if I don't know a latin name!
