Not yet....I won't plant 'maters and peppers until early- to mid- February I do need to get some perennials started, tho.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have not started any yet. BUT, I did have to dig through my recently collected seeds to mail some and wow am I getting the itch! LOL I think I'll start the brug seeds first then go from there. Anyone want to come take care of them for the last month of my pregnancy??? ;)

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

cypress vine, clitoria vine, candlestick bush, cardinal climber, shrimp plant, doing more this week.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

But you are in zone 8! booo hooo hooo hooooooooooooo!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't start most of mine until late February to mid March. But I couldn't stand it any longer. So, I started passiflora, hardy hibiscus and several kinds of geraniums.

I guess all the aphids on my brug cuttings weren't enough to keep me occupied. Nat

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I have winter sown about 150 pop bottles of seeds, are you counting these or only inside. I am just starting to do a few things inside.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Whoa horsies! lol You guys are too much. I started my seeds in the right time frame last year, but I started TOO many. I had like, 16 flats of seeds started. Needless to say that not all of them survived the need to be repotted/planted. I won't want to do that again. It's sad to see these hopefull healthy little seedlings go to waste. This year I'm going to start lots of different things like last year, but I'm not using up the whole packets of seed. I'm doing a few of these, a little of this, etc... I won't start sowing though until Feb 1st. I swear I won't, really I won't, well there are those perennials...*snicker*

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

I know people that have been growing daylilies since they went to seed last fall they are already 6inches high.

Later they will set them out to go dormant-so they may be tricked into blooming this summer!

thats the only thing im starting right now-well maybe some iris pretty soon-there is a new moon acoming!!!!

The only thing I have started are brugs, But plan to get my winter sown stuff out this weekend. Angie I hear ya. I did that last year just planted a few of each thing not the whole pack it was so much easier. I still had plenty to give away. Dori if you didn't have daylilies going I would be surprised. lol ( Dori I have some daylilies seeds if your interested)How do you do your daylily seeds? For the most part I won't start mine until Feb.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Mystic-I know i have daylily fever bad! Sure Id love MORE dl seeds, but you knew that already! giggle

heres the method ive been using:
http://daylily6.tripod.com/Step_1.html

I have a bunch that were sprouting and even shooting up tiny lil fans-so they hit the dirt today! ;)
Ive checked them a dozen or more times since I planted them! LOL still the same!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I checked last night and I have 100% germination on my geraniums and hibiscus in only 3 days! Not bad!

Passifloras hadn't germinated yet - - but several looked like they were about to pop open. COME ON SPRING!

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

lol I bought more seeds at Lowe's last night. They actually had a pretty good selection including some seeds from a UK company I've never heard of before. I think I have 50 different kinds of new seeds at this point. :) I agree nat, come on spring!

Hanover Park, IL(Zone 5a)

Newbie here...How long do seeds in packets last and where should they be kept?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Lotsadirt, It kind of depends on the seed. For sure, all seeds germinate better the fresher the seed. I have found that the harder shell seeds like morning glories, celosia and nasturtiums will be ok for a couple of years. While softer seeds like cosmos and zinnias lost potency after a year. Many will still germinate but not as well as fresh seed. I try to keep my seeds in a cool dry place. Once seed is kept past two years, I think there are no guarantees of viability. Once again, some will - some won't.

Then some seeds like snapdragons, I store in the refrigerator until time to plant as they germinate better if they have a cool spell.

Thanks. That helps.
