Keeping you in my prayers Janet
i am so mad
Praying for you and your family Janet and lots of hugs too for you. Lani
Hope all went well, Janet. Thinking of you guys tonight! :)
Janet, we're still praying for you hon! email if you need someone to talk to.
Janet please let us know how it went hopefully good for you I am praying for your family
janet, have been thinking about your impending court day for a few days. Hoping all went in your favor. Keep us posted. :) Kathy
well the judge ordered the inmates to come and clean up and we have to pay for it along with the $1500 fine. we do not know when they are coming yet so we are trying to move aside what we want to keep before they get here. if we cannot pay for the cleaning she will put a lien on our property.
so for the next 2 days we have rounded up help and are planning to work daylight to dark. i have some windows for another greenhouse and landscape timbers and such that we must pu in one of our storae bldgs or they will take it. i probably won't be online here much before monday. thanks for all the prayers
Oh how I wish a couple friends and I could be there to help you. We would hide a lot of stuff until the job was done. Of course that would just get you started for the next year's battle. I do pray you can manage to avoid this problem in the future.I know how hard it is to pass up some perfectly good and usable item that someone has discarded. But I'm afraid that is what you will have to start doing on a regular basis. Old habits die hard. Especially when they are essentially good ones in our eyes. GOD bless and keep you and yours.
yes you are right. but this time we paid for the windows and timbers. so if we do not put them up we lose even more money
Wow - sorry they weren't more lenient on the financial end. At least the inmates should be able to clear stuff up fairly quickly.
Well this stinks financially but it never has made sense why they are being so stinky about it in the first place. Somebody knows somebody is what I figured...
I'm so sorry. With all that you've got going on. I wish I could help but I'd just be in the way... too bad we can't all be like Samantha Stevens and just twitch our noses. Oh, the fantasies I've had about that.
My heart goes out to you Janet. God bless your work as you do all this stuff and juggle everything else in your life. I'll be thinking of you.
Love to you,
Janie
dh told me today that it will cost $325 just for the dumpster to be delivered. plus man hours , gas, etc. we got alot done this weekend and if they just hold off for a week or two we will have it done and not have to pay them to do it.
I'd just stall them and dig in, then. Think ahead to how much better it's going to feel when it's all cleared out and this crushing worry is no longer hanging over your heads! :)
we have no control over when they come. they have a court order and thats all they need
I'm so sorry this has ended up being such a frustrating, not to mention expensive, ordeal for you guys. But still -- you will feel better once things are to a point where they're manageable, right?
Did she give you any reason at all why she didnt even lower the fine? hhhmmmm. Ok Ive got thoughts running thru my head for ideas to help and cant put them into words. gggrrr. Ill post again when my brain starts working again.
Sorry Janet
Praying for more help,
Janet
WELL FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS THE COUNTY PRISIONERS HAVE BEEN HER CLEANING UP ALONE WITH OTHER COUNTY PERSONNEL. THEY ARE ALMOST THRU. THEY HAVE DESTROYED MY 6YR OLD ASPARAGUS BED. I JUST SAT THERE AND CRIED. WE HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THIS HELP. WITH THE$1260 FINE STILL BEING PAID AT $100 AMONTH THIS WILL BE ADDED AND IF SHE DOES NOT THINK WE ARE PAYING FAST ENOUGH THE JUDGE WILL PUT A LIEN ON OUR PROPERTY. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS IN GA IF A LIEN IS PUT ON IT.
WE HAVE BEEN WORKING SO HARD AND I AM JUST TOO TIRED TO SLEEP. TOO KEYED UP. I M REALLY WORRIED ABOUT THIS LIEN. CAN THEY TAKE OUR HOME AWAY FROM US??? IF YOU KNOW A ANSWER PLEASE POST HERE.
Oh, Janet, I'm so sorry. I don't know about Georgia's laws, but maybe someone here can help point you to information. Is there a Legal Aid group anywhere near you?
Can't you bill them back for your asparagus beds? This does not sound right or fair to me. It makes me crazy to hear the troubles you are having and I wish I could do something to help you. If you can't pay the fines and assessments how are you supposed to come up with the more money they are charging for the "help"?
It makes me want to run and scream... I can only imagine what it is doing to you, Janet. Please, hang in there. Know that God is with you and that He knows what you are going through. He went through unfair and unreasonable trials and accusations, liars and unfair sentencing, and totally outrageous punishment - and he was innocent - so He knows what you are feeling. I hope that helps a little to know. It helps me with my trials.
As far as the lien, there were liens on my parents' house from debts owed, and no one took the house - I think a lien means if you sell your home, they get their money off the top of what you get for the sale of your house. NOT that they get to take your house. So I don't think you need to fret so hard about that one.
Bless your heart, take a deep breath, try to rest your weary head and sleep, dear one. I pray you will be comforted by the Lord tonight and that it will look better to you in the morning.
I wish you the sleep of the innocent and a refreshed spirit in the morning.
With love in Christ,
Janie
;THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
SOMETHING GOOD DID HAPPEN TODAY. DH AND I DECIDED TO SPRING AND GRILL HOT DOGS AND BURGERS FOR THE INMATES WORKING ON THE PROPERTY AND THEY FULLY ENJOYED THEMSELVES. SOME MAY THINK ME CRAZY FOR EATING AND SOCIALIZING WITH THEM BUT THEY ARE JUST GOOD PEOPLE WHO MADE A MISTAKE. WE ARE NON PERFECT AND I FELT GOOD GIVING THEM A GOOD MEAL. THERE WER 8 OF THEM AND THE 2 WARDENS AND THEY ALL THANKED US AND SHUCK OUR HANDS AND MANYSAID GOD BLESS YOU FOR DOING THIS.
I think that's WONDERFUL, not weird. Wouldn't it be interesting if, some day you find that one of those prisoners' lives was genuinely touched by that action and that it made a huge difference in his life? As bad as all of this is, and as painful and frustrating to go through, there is a bigger purpose to all of it. God bless you, Janet. Keep your chin up. God's not abandoned you, though He may seem far away right now. (((hugs)))
Oh Janet that is wonderful, what a testimony that was for you to share your meal with those guys - I bet nobody does it. That meal may have been the "cup of cold water" you guys gave in the name of Christ to someone - the scriptures say that if you did it to the least of these, you did it to Jesus.
Lift up your heads... even through this trial God is using you to bless people and believe me, few would have the strength of heart to bless anyone during such a trial. THose guys saw the Jesus in you and that is a miracle.
I agree with GW - a higher purpose in all this - wouldn't this entire trial be worth it if one person came to Christ because of your witness in your loving actions to these strangers you entertained????
It is always darkest before the dawn. Often I get most despairing right before God hands me a great big blessing...
perhaps that is what is happening for you guys too.
Hold fast to what is good. I'm so proud of you. You're coming down the home stretch with this one and soon all the other things you are doing through will seem like a piece of cake without this to make you fret!
(((((((((((((Janet & family)))))
i never tholught about the fact of touching these guys hearts for christ. we just saw how hard they had to work with nothing but cold prision sandwiches to eat. most of these men just made bad decisions. god is good and he really did work thru us in this. how blknd can i be. i must tell this to dh for he is handling this less than me. thank you for your beautiful words and now we are heading toward home stretch now. god bless you for showing this to me. i feel so much better.
Janet - and for all of these efforts, you'll now have a clean yard to enjoy! :)
That which was too monumental for you and your family to do alone has also been shared by the hands of those who could do the work.
With luck - this can be a new beginning for your yard and all won't seem hopeless!
God bless
Janet, you and your DH are in my thoughts and prayers. You have gone through so much and were so kind sharing your 'bread' and opening your heart. I believe the Lord is working through you. God bless you and your family.
Janet, You did God's work and ministered effectively. They will remember you and as silly as this sounds, perhaps the fact that you were kind to them, will come back to them someday if they decide to go wayward and you are in the path. You know what I mean? God has a reason for everything.
As far as a lien on your property, to the best of my knowledge it just means that should you ever decide to sell you property, you have an order to pay them out of proceeds first. I don't quite understand this judge's way of thinking. Rather than helping good people who want to help themselves, they added more a burden to you. I don't like the "power" the judges feel they have today. Once in a while, you find one that truly wants to make a difference, but I don't see that happening with this one. Remember the name should this person ever go into politics. :)
And remember, the ultimate. God takes care of those that help themselves. There is a reason for all of us and while we can't always see it upfront, you will find out in due time.
I'm sorry about your asparagus bed. Don't dwell on it though as it will just make you bitter. When they are done, get some more asparagus and start fresh. :) Look at it like a storm that went through. (Gee, maybe you get some asparagus while they are there....and they will help you.)
God Bless you and Happy Day,
Kathy
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. I KNOW GOD IS AT WORK HERE. I HAVE ALREADY SEEN SUCH MIRACLES HERE. I CAN REMEMBER WHEN I WOULD HAVE BEEN SCARED TO DEATH TO HAVE THE CONVICTS HERE. YET THIS TIME I WAS COMPLETELY AT PEACE WITH IT AND ENJOYED THEIR COMPANY AND SO DID ALL OUR BABIES, DOGS,. THEY ATE UP THE ATTENTION. MONDAY THE COURTS DEPUTY WILL BE HERE AGAIN AND HAVE A "CONFERENCE" WITH US AS TO STAYING IN TO CODE FROM NOW ON. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME BEING CORDIAL TO THIS MAN. FRIDAY MORNING HE WAS RIDING THRU THE RROPERTY AT 6 AM TAKING PICS AGAIN. HE HAS A COURT ORDER SO I COULD NOT RUN HIM OFF.
Even this guy has a uniform and is one of "the enemy", he is also one whose life God can touch through your actions - just as much as the prisoners were. Take the high road and keep your dignity, and remember this. It will help you -- You can do it! :)
In Ohio if a lien is put on your property, a sheriff's sale can be enforced by the lien holder. An employee took money from our home and we took them to court. We won and the defendant had a judgement of $3000 against them. We had to wait 30 days before we could put a lien on their home. Once the lien was on it, we were allow to enforce a sheriff's sale. The defendant found this out and paid within 7 days.

Janet, I have to agree that usually when a lien is placed on a home it will have to be paid if you decide to sell prior to the lien being paid off. Considering what all you have been through with this situation the idea of a lien can sound intimidating. Look at it this way, if you finance a home or a car the bank/company that loaned you the money will always place a lien. Once it is paid in full the lien is removed, plus the amount of the lien reduces with every payment.
This is only a suggestion, but I'd keep every canceled check or receipt to the court in a separate place so you can readily access them should any problems or questions arise in the future. Should the judge decide to impose a lien because of this matter make sure you request it be removed once the final payment has been made, as well as ensure it HAS been removed. If you ever decide to sell your property in the future a title search will be done, and you don't need something that has been previously paid showing up.
I think it is wonderful that you cooked for those cleaning up. I bet they loved the smell coming from the grill itself almost as much as the food that was served. :o)
Don't fret about your asparagus too much. The roots can go 5' down as well as wide. A big tree laid on mine for two weeks after the hurricane last fall and I have faith that they are going to come back this spring. I hope yours come back too. Carol
Janet, I just found this theard and it breaks my heart to think of how rude and insensitive people can be. I am not in the best of health since I got hurt at work 5 years. So I can understand not always being able to everything or having the money to pay for everything. I would find out if that judge who ruled against you is running for office anytime soon. I mean being that you both are disabled Americans on a tight buget, how good would it look for her to say she fights for the little guy. Wether or not your yard was a messy and needed cleaning. Now a days thats about the only way to get some results. Lots of compaigns are won and Lost by negative ads.
