Wandering through my year of pictures of the gardens...

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

...almost brought tears to my eyes.

All the lovely flowers, the pinks, purples, yellows, a plethora of delights - new and old. Perennials and annuals.

Now they're under the snow, sleeping or maybe some seeds are in the seedbox.

Yes, we do need to snow and the seasons to give us this bounty, but, it still makes me wistful for the weekends where I bellied through the dirt, pulling weeds, planting more seeds and plants, admiring new buds and blossoms, cutting flowers, bringing indoors to bring the beauty inside.

Oh please, Spring...come quickly!

Such a beautiful sight to behold! Come on spring.

Ummm, I can almost smell the oriental poppies! All my plants are under the snow and mulch sleeping, too. As yet, I'm pretty busy with the holidays, and after that, it will be time to begin planting indoors for next spring. I plant to look through my summer photos when I find time, just to do a virtual walkabout... it brings summer into the house.

Mine too are under the snow but it is fast disappearing it has been so mild here. That is not good they need the cover to survive what will come in January and February. Have a great holiday weez; the sun starts back today. I may place my first order tonite.

I can understand your concern, Jagonjune. Last year the snow melted off in January, got warmer, and when the plants started popping up, it dropped down to 18 degrees F. Needless to say, I lost lots of plants. This fall I mulched most of the beds and potted perennials, then covered them with plastic. Got my fingers crossed!

I placed my first seed order in early December, but I have lots more to order. I'd like to be all done with it by the end of December. I order lots and lots of seeds, so it's quite a chore... but fun!

My photos rotate as screen savers so I am enjoying 5 second flashes of summer. Here is one from mid July.

Nice - very nice. I should do the same.

I use my flowers as screen savers too & desktop wallpaper. I need to go through my flowers & get updated names, heights & info on them all. I just scrawled everything fast this summer---alot more time to do it in January!

I'm eager to see what survives in the new bed I put in this summer. Many of the plants were sent to me by DGers!

I yearn for warm weather, but this is all I'll see out my windows for the next few months...

Hwy wandas; it looks like a sunny day tho. And we get time to reflect and plan changes for next year. The subtropical gardeners are always at it.

June, are you talking about us? Lol. Yep, I have to do some planting out today re-arrange some of my flower beds. Put some purslane into a hanging baskets and replace it with some perrenials. I need to get that porterweed planted out so it will grow enough to make butterfly season. Always so much to do. My contemplation time comes at the end of the day in that wicker chair hiding in the back corner of my garden, (with a beer). Still trying to figure out where I'm gonna put those 2 queen's wreath vines, peppercorn vine, 2 banana trees and bleeding heart vine. Bought those all before nurserys stopped shipping.
Thank you all, you've done me a great service, I'm inspired all over again.

It rained yesterday and melted all the snow. I enjoyed our 50 degree weather today by inventorying my dayliles & irises. Winter is a good time to plan & think what should be different next year. Time to get better IDs on my photos.
Time to dream about the blooms to come....
