I would do it.
Queer Eye for a Straight Guy started this week. What they did for a mountain man artist living in NY was fantastic. Long hair, paint splashed jeans, disgusting living conditions ..... The 5 presenters all batting for the other team hence the program title have expertise in grooming, interior decorating, clothes, food and culture gave the guy and his house a total make over and got him his first art exibition
Makeovers - would you do it?
What they did TO him was disgusting.
were we watching the same program? I dont think so
OK, what did they do TO him?
That show cracks me up! I am rarely home when it is on though. So what the heck did I miss??
he had long hair half way down his back which was cut off. It was then cut and low lights were put in. They darkened his eyebrows because they were white and it totally changed him. Told he how to use hair wax
He got a spray tan using a compressed air tanning both.
They dumped his old clothes and bought him suits, jeans and T shirts. Told him how to dress. I learned never wear the same style demin for jeans and denim jacket eg faded jeans and a dark jacket.
They taught him how to cook
Painted his flat and hung his art
and the list goes on
This was a good thing?
Well, he asked for it! I just hope he didn't lose being himself.
Zenzinnia, I am on the Atkins' Diet. We have a weight loss challenge going on in the Health, Dieting and Beauty Forum. We started back in September. Darius is keeping up with the weight losses. We just posted how much weight we had lost and she kept up with the percentage of our goal that we attain each week. Most of us have slowed down our weight loss to just maintaining lately and we only have one week to go. We are ending it November 15 and probably starting back up on January 2. Take a look; there are fabulous recipes there too, I think most are from Atkins' books or website.
Well it does not sound horrendous unless he was unhappy with the outcome? Hair grows and hair color fades and he can wear out his new duds to be just as comfy and worn as the others. Darn, I wish I would have seen that one! There is nothing on their website about that show, but I don't know his name either. So does anyone know if he was happy with it?
he was very happy and so were his friends
All is well then! Thanks Mark. :)
A makeover would be fun to do for the heck of it, but the next day I'd be back to my low-maintenance self.
Angelsong, I have never looked my age either. When I was a teenager, I was often taken for being in my mid-20s. By the time I turned 21, I was usually accused of being 14 or 15. When I was 29, I was told to leave a bar (drinking 7-up while playing table shuffleboard) because I wasn't yet 18!
And on top of that, I am blonde, so have suffered all my life from being treated as really really stupid. Just what a National Honor Society student needed, right?
It all taught me to not care about what strangers think or say about me. My friends know me, I really don't care what others might or might not think, or say.
As for the make-over, I probably would have tried it in my youth, but now? Nah. Life is already difficult enough for a cripple without having to worry about keeping up with my physical appearance, wearing clothes that might make me fall more easily, or have to try to curl my hair or other physical improbabilities. Being disabled has its compensations.
Shoes? You mean I would have to wear a pair of uncomfortable pointy toed shoes for my makeover? Forget the makeover for this girl. I am all for comfort and keeping myself upright.
Right, Ponditis, imagine how your makeup would lok anyway if you fell off your stillettos into the pond... ;-)
LOL I would have lilypads on my head and fish nipping at my nose, plus right now it sure would be cold. BRRRRRR
A t-shirt and blue jean woman is what I am destined to be. A good old pair of comfy shoes and my hair combed at least once a day whether it needs it or not. Oh yeah and my glasses on first thing in the morning.
Hey,Just bake great cookies and everyone will compliment you just to get to the cookie jar. (works at my house! Ha Ha )
Wandasflowers, it takes making a big pan of fudge in my house or a big pot roast. LOL
What? Up at 2 am & thinking of fudge? A woman after my own heart! LOL
LOL Wandasflowers. This is the season of fudge for me. I make about 8 to 10 batches each year of 8 pounds each for friends and to sell. You have reminded me I have to make a batch for this weekend for a friend to have plenty to send home with her family. Of course the corner pieces aren't good enough to sell. LOL
