Books on Propagation

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Our garden section in the local newpaper mentioned 2 books that were good for propagating plants and seeds. I'm thinking of getting them and was wondering if anyone has read them and if they give lots of information.

Plant Propagation A-Z, Growing Plants for Free by Geoff Bryant

Seeds, the ultimate guide to growing successfully from seed, by Jekka McVicar

Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna, I have a book by Alan Toogood and I think it just called Plant Propagation and it has everything, seeds, cuttings etc. Everything. I like it really well. Joann

Bill, Bill, Bill,

Why are you keeping your wonderful site a secret???? That is wonderful and I hope you don't mind, but I have bookmarked it for lots of future references. You have some amazing links and I can't believe all the work you have done. It's wonderful. I will be contacting you with lots of questions. lol

I heartily second Lenjo's book - I received it as a gift and use it constantly. also From Seed to Bloom is an excellent source of info on germination requirements for flowers.

Thanks golddog for the link to your list of books, I'm going to look in the library for them. The problem with reading (and looking at the pretty pictures) is I want a natural garden, then I want a cottage garden, then I want a garden room etc. etc. etc.

Hi barbur, I think all you wish for will fit into one. In other words, cram in the plants you have to have, and do a little design work (hardscape) to make sense. Diversity makes gardening what it is.

Gardening magazines and books have so many ideas. All we have to do decide how an individual idea can go into our gardens as well. Idea upon idea, and before long, it all makes sense.

There are no 'wrong' moves in the garden. Only changes directed towards a 'perfect' garden. Which we wouldn't want anyhow, even if it was possible.

Checked out your garden links...some great websites, I could spend all week looking if I had time! Thanks!

Oh my gosh, there is so much information in those links that I will never be able to get it all read. I sure bookmarked this one. Thanks!!

Is there a book that can be purchased that has pictures of seed pods and there locations. I have such a terrible time trying to figure out where and how to try to find seeds that I would gladly purchase a book if there is any such thing? I use Tom Clothiers web site a lot, but so much of what I need he doesn't have photos of.
Between trying to figure out where the seeds are and if they are ripe I make myself crazy.
Thanks
Alice
