I would think a picture of the rooster, a gourd, and paint along with a high school art student could get the same results. That might only cost a few meals at McDonalds. In fact, you might get an art class to do this if you furnish the supplies, for nothing.

I have some dried gourds...and the model chickens.....and I can get pretty artsy when I set my mind to it......
Actually I was going to take some real chicken feathers and glue them on to make a really feathered gourd chicken,maybe a goose too......I have swan gourds,and swans.......real feathered swan gourds...LOL
and for 75 bucks my chickens can donate LOTS of feathers.....

Yes those prices are high, wow, I had not seen his site, and can you imagine, people were ordering from him and he has a waiting list...... that is one reason I started growing some gourds, you can have nice vines and then use the hardshelled gourds for decorating.. some grow in the shape of apples, pears, peaches, etc.. to make a fruit basket.. I have been trying to get some chicken patterns and will keep searching the net, I saw a few, but don't like them, so will keep looking..
One person had a bald baby with a pacifyer (sp) using a light colored gourd and woodburing the hair design, then it had a little dress.. real cute stuff, but very expensive. I don't think I took a photo of that one.
Some of the GourdArt is even more expensive.. I depending on the carving and engraving.
Brugie you didn't see the one for 600 and another for 1,500? Blew me away.
