Pineapple Plant?

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9b)

Can anyone tell me how to care for a pineapple plant? Got a great deal on one but not sure what to do for it. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Been growing and harvesting mine a few years now. I have mine potted in a combo potting soil and orchid mix to give it room to breathe. I only water it a little each week as they like dry compared to too wet. Give it full sunshine. Once it bears fruit it won't produce for the next year as they only produce fruit every other year. You can cut the top off the harvested pineapple, strip all the fruit from the bottom and a few bottom rows of leaves, let dry a day or two and plant in same type of mix. Will root quickly as you will see some root when you strip the bottom leaves before drying.
Enjoy,
Candee

Here is a recent pic, the one in front was harvested last year from the larger plant behind. They were not nearly this big when first harvested and the one in front is growing leaps and bounds, so be prepared to transplant, and DON't poke your eye out!

Thanks Candee, is it best potted or in the ground? Will it take the summer heat? Patrick

In your zone probably can plant in the ground, too cold here in winter for them so I keep mine in pots. I think they will take the heat fine, but in AZ with those 100 degree temps you may want to provide a bit of shelter for the hottest part of the day.
Mine are in full sun here, but mostly 80-90 here.

Thanks So Much. Your plants look great. I'm going to go home and plant it in my front yard. Getting so much rain today, much needed. Suppose to go through the week as well. I'll post a pic. when planted. Thanks agian Candee!
