HELP! Munching my Rose of Sharon seed pods!

Sweetwater, TX(Zone 7a)

I have a beautiful new Blue Satin Rose of Sharon (hibiscus syriacus). I am eagerly awaiting the ripening seeds.

BUT there is a predator! Something took a bite out of the seedpod! I don't want it to happen to others - what can I do? I have Bug-B-Gone and Neem Oil, and will buy anything else y'all suggest!

This is a bad pic, but you may get the idea! HELP!

Thank you for your advice. Have you read that Sevin is
"bad" in some way for Rose of Sharon? I read that somewhere, but can't remember the specifics. Burns the foliage or something?

I'll try the dust on JUST the seedpods. Thanks!

Boy, I'm glad people didn't use chemicals much in the fifties and sixties! I used to eat Rose of Sharon seed pods, myself! They are crunchy and tasty.

I learned to eat lots of stuff, since I played outside in the fields and woods from morn 'til night. Little did I know then the Oxalis I munched would be sooo pesky in my grown up garden.
